Thanks for the ideas. The jack might be sweet but it heavier and more costly. The pipe stand is sold individually, so a pair of car stands at Harbor Frieght are cheaper especially using a 25% off coupon.
Ramps provide about 7 inches, ramp combined with bottle jacks get to about 12 inches. I have not so good memories of doing the previous clutch change with not any extra clearance. I am hoping to have fun this time. The concept of being about to raise the vehicle up nearly 30 inches is appealing...
I am looking for the jack to lift the Tacoma (whole vehicle). I am not worried about the transmission jack. In fact, when I last did this job in about 2011, I did so by driving the passenger side tire up on a curb and raised on lowered the transmission using tie down straps. It wasn't pretty but...
Looking for suggestions, feedback, and/or work arounds to lift a 1st Gen Tacoma high enough to replace the clutch. The two options I have located are:

Very interesting. Back in 1985 or 86 I had a MAF sensor that failed and only acted up after thee engine was operating. The engine would even stop running. I guess it could be running mostly leaner than indicated and a brief moment of richer thus potentially explaining the changing and very high...
Yes the HC is also high but I did not want to do anything to lean out the airfuel mixture when I was actually fail for high NOX. I also had and corrected a EVAP system issue so I might be introducing extra HC via the charcoal canister. I will also acknowledge that the catalytic converter is...
The first legislated exhaust (tailpipe) emission standards were promulgated by the State of California for 1966 model year for cars sold in that state, followed by the United States as a whole in model year 1968. Also in 1966, the first emission test cycle was enacted in the State of California...
This list agrees with my understanding. In fact, I would add one or more partially block fuel inject. The challenge I am having checked and verified the cooling system and EGR system working correctly and the NOX actually increased significantly from 532 to 656 after I verifed these working...
Intersting idea to remove the EGR valve creating what should be a signifcant vacuum leak. I did a smoke test with the EGR valve base plate intake tube and did get a significant amount of smoke flowing into the intake manifold. Enough that I concluded that the passage way way open and free...
For the first time I had trouble passing California's bi-annual smog check. The results are in the table below.
This for a 1994 Buick Park Avenue Ultra GM's 3.8L Series 1 with a supercharger, but would apply to many vehicles.
First attempt failed because of a small leak in the EVAP system but...
