It really depends on what ambient temperature is when you work on it, in a hot 30+'C day it takes less than 10 minutes to reach 40'C, trust me I have done it with a scan tool.

If you have a BMW, their instruction is to check fluid level at 40'C.

Yes, about 4.5L of fluid came out at first drain with pan removed.

I used Valvoline Maxlife ATF, bought two gallons and did two drain and fill to use it up(so approximately 6 quarts was replaced). Have driven 20000+ km since and transmission shifts like new( I would actually say it shifts better than factory ZF fluid).

I think ZF LG5 is equal to ESSO LT71141(OEM supplier)

I use Maxilife in my BMW F10 ZF8 and it's been running really well for 13000+km already.

Up to now by what I heard from the mid-night news, it's already 8000 people killed. It was such a disaster that we could actually feel the quake in Hong Kong, which is 2000 km away from the quake region. Feels really bad.
