The previous owner of my 1998 M-roadster (S52 motor) used Amsoil European Car Formula 5W-40 for years, and I used it the last couple years. Rotella-T synthetic 5W-40 is available locally, would switching to that be a bad idea, or should I order Amsoil? I put about 3,000 miles on the car...

Thanks for the replies. While we are on the topic, the Jeep is now at 1,500 miles and I plan to change to M-1 Syn now. What OCI do you recommend? I usually go 6-8K miles between changes with M-1.

OK, 5W-20. :) I was thinking they suggested that oil due to fuel mileage claims when testing for EPA or something and HAD to require it. I usually recall seeing a viscosity/climate chart in most owners manuals, none found here though.

Looking forward to first oil change in the new 4.7L Grand Cherokee. The manual says to use 5W-20, could a 5W-30, or 0W-30 Mobil-1 be used, or should I stick with the 5W-20 recommendation? Thanks, John
