I'm wondering...I've heard that Techron/PEA works best during many on-off cooldown cycles where the PEA has time to coat the injectors+valves (if non-DI), as opposed to long stints of highway driving without cooldown cycles. Does this Valvoline Restore and Protect Fuel System Cleaner work any...
Thanks. As for the injectors, would you say using a bottle of Valvoline Fuel System Cleaner every 6m/5k miles would keep the injectors pristine, even when not using Top Tier fuel?
Any idea what types of deposits Valvoline Fuel System Cleaner cleans in a DI engine? Would it have any effect on valves at all? Does it clean injectors better than PEA would?
Ha, I'm guessing the dealer used cheapest available oil. Initially, I'll be doing 4x OCIs of Valvoline Restore and Protect, followed by one of the two oils in my initial post along with a Purolator Boss filter, probably at 6k OCI.
Holy cow, didn't even realize the thread below mine is pretty much my doppelganger! Same car, same oil decision (almost). In that case, I'll refine my question to simply ask which is the better short trip oil?
Hi everyone. I have a 2018 Subaru Outback 3.6R with ~60k miles. So far, I've narrowed down my oil selection to:
1) Valvoline Extended Protection High-Mileage 5w30
2) Mobil 1 ESP 5w30
Assuming price is the same and OCI of 6-8k miles, which is the better oil, particularly for short trips...
My question here isn't your standard one. I'm interested in keeping a quart of oil in my car full-time for emergencies. I'm simply trying to find the most durable quart container that has no chance of breaking open and ruining my trunk space. Do you find any brands more durable than others? Thanks!
I have a Murphy USA gas station right around the corner from me. I also have Costco Top Tier gas available, but it's about a 15 min drive. Out of pure convenience, I typically buy gas at Murphy USA. It's cheap and it works. Given that Murphy isn't top tier, would it suffice to use Techron...
