Recommended filter for 2007 Ford 5.4

I'm still running my 2007 F-150 with a 5.4. Still on original cam phasers, and the truck is really a low-mileage beauty. 105,000 miles. I run 0W-20 in winter, and 5W-30 in summer. Which filter do you recommend for keeping the cam phasers alive? We all know clean oil with good flow is of utmost...

    Mann MW-75

I emailed them… Mahle OC-306 is the OEM filter (rebadged BMW filter)

    Mann MW-75

So would I be asking for trouble using the Amsoil filter (11-17psi Bypass), when the OEM filter is 32psi? The cam chain tensioner on my bike is hydraulic, if that makes a difference.

    Mann MW-75

Supposedly the OEM BMW filter (Mahle OC306), has a bypass valve rated at 32psi. The Amsoil is only 11-17psi. Sure seems like a high pressure on the OEM. Guess I’ll stick with it…

    Different bypass pressure

Yes, on the Amsoil site it shows the EA15K53 is a replacement for the Kohler

    Different bypass pressure

The OEM Kohler filter on my 25 horsepower twin has a bypass pressure of 8-11 psi. An Amsoil filter that fits dimensionally has a bypass pressure of 11-17 psi. Any issues if I run the Amsoil? I should mention that this is on a welding machine, which usually runs long and hard days. However, on...

    Mann MW-75

I ride a BMW K1600 motorcycle, and am looking for a better filter than OEM. It appears that Mahle OC306 (OEM) and Mann are all that’s available. Looking at the Mann specs here https://catalog.mann-filter.com/NA/eng/catalog/MANN-FILTER%20Katalog%20Nordamerika/Oil%20Filter/MW%2075 Do you see any...

UOA Amsoil MCF 10W-40. BMW K1600

Good points guys. The oil from 2020 was not sampled. And @alarmguy , you are totally correct in the case volumes. The oil change from 2019 would have been a from different case, you are correct And I was wrong. Good catch. So that could potentially explain different additives. Thanks for all...

UOA Amsoil MCF 10W-40. BMW K1600

Thanks for your input. I missed a few observations that you pointed out, about the additives. What makes me really start to question this report even more now is that the oil from this recent report came from the same “case” of 12-qt bottles as the previous sample. So one would think the...

UOA Amsoil MCF 10W-40. BMW K1600

I should note, the shifting was feeling pretty notchy for the last while. When I put in fresh Castrol 5W-40 right after that last OC, the shifting felt very smooth once again.

I’ve read some of your other posts and you clearly don’t like Blackstone. Was there an issue between you and them? What lab do you recommend?

UOA Amsoil MCF 10W-40. BMW K1600

Edit: I am the OP. Had to change my Username though as I could no longer log-in for some reason. Here is my latest UOA, again using Amsoil MCF 10W-40. I’m quite pleased with this report…

    Kohler/Amsoil 10W-50

The Amsoil EA15K51 is the recommended filter for my Kohler 25 Command Pro. Why do you think their "kit" would not provide this same filter?

    Kohler/Amsoil 10W-50

I run a Kohler 25 EFI in a welder that gets about 500 hours/yr. So i'm going to run this new Kohler/Amsoil Pro for the summers. I'm in Canada, so for winters I'll stick with Co-Op DMO 0W-40 HDEO
