My 2020 Ram 3500 Cummins manual recommends 10w30 for zero degrees and above, and synthetic 5w40 for temps starting below zero. It does NOT differentiate between severe towing or not. I wonder why Ram doesn't seem to care about severe service (such as me towing a 20K fifth wheel full time.)

Hello,
Simple question: is there any reason for me not to use Shell Rotella T6 15-40 in my 2020 Ram 3500 with a Cummins High Output turbo diesel? This truck is our daily driver plus it has to pull our 20k fifth wheel around America. The manual recommends 10w30 oil, with a 15k OCI.

After buying a 2020 Ram 3500 dually with the H.O. Cummins TD, I was surprised to see a 15K oil change recommendation using 10w30 oil in the manual. I am thinking of using the Amsoil ADN, as there are few choices in that weight. I'm not interested in doing oil analysis in order to stretch the...
So, I decided to run (since I use it in my truck also) Rotella T6 5w40 in my Honda eu2000i generators. It is a well regarded, heavy duty diesel full synthetic that should handle a broad spectrum of operating temperatures.
Thanks for all the input as usual!
Roy

So I use my pair of Honda eu2000i generators for a few weeks each year powering my RV. I usually put about 100 hours on them during that time. I change the oil before and after I use them, and usually once in the middle. Then they go into storage until the next year. Given that pattern, does it...

This is the ticket, I think. Walmart has the 5 qt jug for about $11, add a single quart for $2.84, and the MC filter is about $5. I'll use the 5w20 in the winter and the...
Got it Bill, thanks. Sounds like your people are getting their money's worth out of the VW! By the way, my company car is parked up in the mountains (daily freezes in winter) and is driven down into the desert out east daily (I flog it coming up the grade in 100 plus temps, plus the regular dust...
