Even though I'm an Amsoil dealer, and if I had to use a synthetic I would follow Pablo's advice but It's a complete waste unless he is racing it. We use 15W-40 Dello 400 HDDO in most of the cars in the collection I manage with very good results.

You are kidding, right?????????? This isn`t something to play around with. When it does go chances are it will totally come apart and parts of the impeller can lodge when you can`t get to them thus rendering your beloved engine usless. Get that old thing out of there before next spring season...

And I guess mine also. She has wanted one from the day they cam out. O told her to wait till the Turbo`s came out so we did. Then in 2003 they came out with this Dream cruiser model. They are all this color which she wanted and it`s the only way you can get this color. (Tangerine Pearl). Problem...

You say that you are mixing, are you mixing the Amsoil with something also? I would switch to the new Saber Amsoil 100:1 if it were me as they have separated there 100:1 oils now. I also when I premix like to use the 100:1 at around 80:1, just seems to me to work better.

I have a 1987 non turbo and the best oil I ever have used in it was the Dello 400 15W-40. Reason being was that the detergents kept it from carboning up like it did with most other oils. We rotary owners know that if the car sets for a few days that oil pools in the bottom of the combustion...

The Fellow I work for has a 1987 slant nose Cabrolet and very low miles. They tend to start leaking when setting as this one has. We now have it at a shop with the engine removed having the whole engine resealed. Mostly cam and timing covers but have you ever tried removing them with the engine...

for instance, If you mixed two 0W-20 bottles of Mobil1 with three bottles of Amsoil 15W40 do you get the average of the two which would be 5W-35.

I`m an amsoil dealer, so you know where my loyalty lies, but I gave Royal Purple an honest try last year. I dumped my HP injector out and saved it, refilled the tank with the Royal Purple TC-W3, new plugs. I gave it a month and actually dumped it and put the HP back in, I didn`t like it at all...

Just the fact that oil does a lot more in an engine than just lubricate is enough for me to not believe tests like this.

With proper filtration, and a sound engine, it can go as long as your engine takes to deplete the additive package. This is up to you to decide with whatever oil you choose through an oil analysis program over a few years. There are engines out there with over 100,000 miles on the oil with oil...
