Hexagonal Boron Nitride (hBN) slowly replacing ZDDP?

Right. Referring to ZDDP (Zinc, Phosphorus, Sulfur). I know not long ago that the maximum allowed level of ZDDP (expressed as phosphorus indeed) in SN/GF-5 category car engine oil is around 800 ppm is. Due to it (Phosphorus) being the main poisonous component ( Way more than sulfur) for the...

Hexagonal Boron Nitride (hBN) slowly replacing ZDDP?

Turbo engines might require slightly more zddp than the NA engines especially if the OCI is extended but I do second you on that. Looking at multiple past UOAs, almost the exact same wear (camshaft, bearings, pistons...) between low vs high saps oils. That ravenol REP which is qualified as a...

Hexagonal Boron Nitride (hBN) slowly replacing ZDDP?

Maybe. I was told Potassium borate is used as a catalytic intermediate to synthetize hBn. Is there any hint to distinguish between the two?

Hexagonal Boron Nitride (hBN) slowly replacing ZDDP?

👍🏻 Yope exactly that for the A3/B3 version for Redline Lots of moly and some boron. https://oilyman.opentika.ovh/?auto=0&approval=BMWLL01&grade=5W30&brand=Redline&engine=&mileage=0&ocons=0&country=ES&surname= Yet they did not back off in terms of zddp. Thel redlines are nuts.

Hexagonal Boron Nitride (hBN) slowly replacing ZDDP?

Appears the post owner was correct about the market tendency of shifting towards Boron instead of ZDDP. Not a global tendency though, but I can see some premium oils follow that trend. True for example, HPL euro and Shell HU C2/C3 and Redline HP, with over 500 ppm of Boron. But why would HPL...

How Can an Additive Be Effective for 50,000 KMs ? Liqui Moly Next Gen Motor Protect

Sounds like it s not zddp as I thought but more of a Tungsten additive. 0 moly while the product is called MP Molygen ? 🤔 LM Ceratec in.the other hand seems to be a Moly/Boron booster.

    Mobil 1 ESP X4 Euro 0w-40

There is a thread here corroborating that Mobil 1 ESP 0W30 does indeed clean sludge/varnish but there is no proof yet that it cleans those stubborn diamond-like piston deposits (That requires long hours of piston soak using a very strong solvent or a special oil molecule engineered...

Valvoline Restore and Protect Where to buy in EU

OVERKILL is correct. I personally tried ATF on some applications to see whether it cleans or not. It did absolutely nothing. Nada, Nothing, Rien, Null. I - in the other hand - have seen excellent results achieved with piston soaks using the legendary Berryman Chemtool B12 which is supposed to be...

    BMW Longlife Specs... (LL01, LL04, LL19FE; N52 and B48)

I thought it was the fuel sulfur reacting with the Nikasil coating of the M60 V8 engine as stated everywhere. Do you have any source explaing the problem being the fuel system parts and not fuel itself? I am interested o read.

    BMW Longlife Specs... (LL01, LL04, LL19FE; N52 and B48)

Thanks for the links. That should comfort those stuck with BMW LL01. I have very little knowledge in US regulations. Indeed I just saw that the EPA Tier 3 took full effect starting January 2020. That makes the previous maps outdated for USA. Ironically, I have a map from the same private cabinet...
