It's based on a gen 5 ls design. Direct injection, oil squirters, aluminum block, displacement on demand, coil near plugs, the works, and it shows. It makes almost the same power as a 4.8 did The old 4.3 is related to a 350 minus 2 cylinders. The new 4.3 is related to a 5.3 minus 2 cylinders.
