I picked one up to replace my water damaged first gen SE, so far I really like it. Very fast and the screen lighting is a noticeable improvement. Still using an Otterbox Defender.
If a wagon isn't a must have and you already know Lexus products what about looking for an early GX470 on the cheap? Pre 2005 didn't have VVT and is non interference which makes having a timing belt much less of an issue.
I've decided to stop looking and love the lack of a car note. Another year or two when I can swing it without a payment I'll pick up a low mile 14-15 Lexus GS350 or GX460, just not sure which yet. It depends on what's left of civilization by then.

In my mind the only solution to people who keep driving with a flashing oil or CEL is to get them a used $3-5k Nissan Leaf aka an enclosed golf cart for their next vehicle. No plug, no go. Yeah it's hot garbage but there's also really nothing to neglect besides charging so they will learn to...
The dealer will take the first $4k in the door on either by months end but even then they are still not worth it. I'm guessing they decided to retail them due to the low miles thinking they are comparable to the Lexus and Acura turn of the millennium offerings and got bit with unknown at trade...
In my opinion those are shot and I'd second Slacktide_bitog's suggestion on the replacement brand recommendation, those are excellent for the price. I had to do the rears on my G37x in February when one started to stick and they both had similar levels of deterioration to yours. Brakes are...
That's a little disconcerting, cars shouldn't snitch. Next thing you know car manufacturers will start programming their vehicles to automatically drive to the dealership at the end of the lease when the primary owner/occupant is detected by bio-metrics and then HAL9000 them inside until they...
Astro makes some good points, despite having flaws the US airline industry provides a public good and service, and can be used for national defense or disaster support in certain circumstances should US military equipment be needed elsewhere. Allowing the sector to collapse also potentially...
You make a good point on the sensors reducing instance of accidents which in turn mitigates the increased costs of each repair or totaling out a 2-3 year old car. I do see the potential advantages of a lot of this new tech for new drivers, those that want added safety or that commute long hours...
Also if every $25k-30k MSRP car is rolling around with $10-12k replacement cost of sensors, lights, camera's ect in the nose alone what's that mean for collision repair? I imagine we are coming up on a point where most any frontal collision pretty much totals the car.
