You guys should check out www.clubgp.com great info about the 3800 (l67 and l36)
it is a Grand Prix board but Regals are most certainly welcome.
as stated above the 3800 will outlast the rest of the car, just take it easy on the trans. Many members of clubgp have tried synth trans fluid with...
87 has more power in it per gallon/liter than 93.
running regular in a obd2 car which requires premium will most likely cause knock, and thus the computer will initiate knock retard(as stated above. The car will run ok until you put the engine under load.
running premium in the same vehicle...
My car (98 Grand Prix GTP) has both map and MAF.
One good Reason why most Maf cars use a MAP is this.
when an obd2 car sees a problem with the maf it will switch over to Speed density and guess its way from there (after setting your ses light).
example:
If I modify my L67 (supercharged series...
I believe my brothers 96 4.3L s10/Sonoma states in the manual not to use ethanol as it would deteiorate seals.
I have heard of these warnings in other vehicles as well.
Oxygenated gas is really bad news for Forced induction engines as well, Pistons seem to pop more readily.
in drive at a stop you are heating up the tranny. (BAD)
when shifting to neutral you stop heating the tranny so much but you are increasing clutch wear.
as long as you have fresh trans oil and do no overheat it too badly leaving it in drive is better (in my opinion)
Your mechanic was correct. There are several fuel trims which take time to set. the long term trim can take quite a while depending on the vehicle. Varying your driving to show the computer your true driving style will help it reach correct values sooner. If you do alot of city driving do not...
I found GC in Winnipeg Manitoba, Canada.
Partsource (same as canadian tire)
They had several cases, I purchased 2 cases leaving 5. Strange thing is that they had the US oil in the same stack of cases. cost was 6.99 Canadian.
I cannot wait.
The egr puts so much carbon into the s/c I don't even worry about filtration.
I would run better times but I am in Canada (thin air) have you ever been to club gp? lots of real good info on there. Make sure you use a proper tool to change the s/c pulley, do not use a 3 jaw puller.
mileage...
Jason Troxell,
I installed a 3.5 (no longer available) The 3.4 is one pound of boost more.
It has been dyno'ed at 25 more hp and Alot more torque to the wheels. I highly recommend it.
With the 3.5 and a less restrictive intake I ahve run a 14.2 1/4 mile time.
Jason, I cannot believe that you are not impressed with the 3.8 series 2.
I must say the tourque/looks sold me on the car. (no honda or toyota can compare to the specs on the 3.8). My car still runs smooth to this day despite the s/c being overdriven with a smaller pulley for more boost...
I still have my 98 GTP. i had the recall work done even though I had no symptoms. the point is GM did something. how many toyotas will die of sludge before toyota does something?
