Here’s the parts page for my model.
Turns out it wasn’t the carb being loose, I just wasn’t paying attention to the way I took it apart.

It was somewhat dirty, but the inside looked brand new. I'm beginning to thing the carb shook loose and leaned out the mixture.
I also don't think I'll bother with the main jet, the only smaller one I can find is a .32. a 3% difference.
Not really, but I keep wondering if that loose carb shook loose and made the idle surge? It was only the idle I noticed acting weird.
Amd thank you for the jet clarification that helps a lot
Thank you everyone. Here’s what I found. The carb itself was hand tight, that probably caused some problems.
The only jet I can see here has a 80.5 on it and they are both very clean
Can I (or should I) change the main jet, and by how much? Also, the idle varies by what sounds like 800-1000rpm. Kinda wants to die before spinning back up again. Seems to run okay at full throttle.
This is for a snow blower btw engine 1024 (1696610)
So I just bought a new FJR I plan on keeping for a very long time, but certainly not until the engine is worn out. I guess I just want piece of mind that the oil I'm using is doing it's job. I have no problem changing my oil every 3-4000ish miles but I may take trips that are as long as 5000...
