    LC20 for VW 1.8tsi

Took the advice here and did the 1st change early. Already had 2k on the car so that's when it happened. I did break it in easy for the 1st 1k+ and then wound it out a few times before this change. Used M1 0w40 because it was easy and will change about every 6k (spring and fall) with no adds...

    LC20 for VW 1.8tsi

Thanks guys. My guess is I'll put about 12k mi per year on it now that my work schedule is reduced. Think I'll due do spring and fall changes and call it a day. I know there's no consensus but how about 1st oil change. Would you do 2k after most of high has come off or wait for the 5k.

    LC20 for VW 1.8tsi

My thinking was the same but there's good reason to try and extend, both environmental and $. It's also not the turbo that seems at issue here. How you liking your Alltrack? I'm surprisingly satisfied with it. After run in, I've been using custom driving mode with sport steering and economy ECU...

    LC20 for VW 1.8tsi

Been away for quite some time but recently got an VW Alltrack. Still an awesome site. Planned on using a 502 oil and calling it a day. I have used LC20 in the past but it's seemed to have fallen out of favor here. I get that oils are better now, especially those rated for this use but here's the...

    Rate these conventionals in order.

My motors always run smoother, quiet and free on Valvoline. With current SM ratings, I wouldn't worry about any of these so if it feels better, why not?

im doomed...metal particles & bubbles on dipstick

If Toyota built it for a turbo it would do just as well or better. This is an after market install. He's probably getting a lot higher power to displacement ratio than the cars you mentioned with a motor designed for less. He may be starting out with significantly higher natural compression. He...

im doomed...metal particles & bubbles on dipstick

I think that your oil starvation scenario may be the best one. Another is that you may have had some knocking from the turbo. Could stress the crank or get metal from the combustion chamber. Heat from tracking won't help here either. 12.5 psi isn't taking it easy unless your motor is built up...

    Formula one

And Micheal paid dearly for it. Helped Alonso with that years title. Hamilton could have won this one and I suspect he had a hand in the cars issues but shaking it up pretty good trying to pass Alonso when it was totally unnecessary for the title. That looked like rookie angst. Love the guy but...

    Redline vs AMSOIL

I remember reading the actual article a while back and what I recall is that Redline showed that their oil gave more HP over time in the motor as the additives did their thing and that the Amsoil curve was more linear. Redline showing less friction after less than 1k mi. while showing more...

I Am Tired of Hearing Thicker is Better

We have a winner. Time for somebody to acknowledge a reasonable answer. Regardless of how most these cars actually get used, I doubt Ferrari views them as grocery getters. Mr Haas is obviously using the right stuff for his situation as would I in his position. The vehicle will easily last...
