I have used LM 1800 in several of my BMW over the last few years. No problems, trannys seem to shift well.

The oil change is LITERALLY the exact same as the BMW 4.4l v8. Same location, same drain plug, same filter.

The 7 series most likely has the 8 cyl engine, meaning the cap goes into the block itself. If it was the 6 cyl I find it hard to believe they over tightened the plastic cap enough to break the housing that's mounted to the block.

This is the stuff that drives me nuts. People blatantly exaggerating costs for BMW, Mercedes etc. The oil filter housing for a 2012 7 series is about $14 - $ 37 CAD from RA.

These have gone on clearance here. I just picked up a set for one of my cars at almost 40% off. I have these tires on a few of our vehicles already. At this price might pick up a spare set as 2 of our vehicles use the same size tires.

I ALWAYS change the oil after a used car purchase. Just piece of mind for me. I also check all the filters.

I would think that starting at low mileage and doing it as preventative maintenance would be a good way to keep it at bay.
