I've always used the mobil1 0w-40 in that engine and it was fine with it,. I use the castrol 5w-40 now in my other bmw and it seems to be ok, do you need 0w?

It's for the 2GR-FKS ( not sure about earlier version ) and it's manufacturers scheduled service that's in the owner's manual. Replacing it involves removing some of the same stuff required when doing spark plugs.

I have the coupe! In SMG You never know with these cars. My particular one seems no more troublesome than your average bmw but my mileage is low I love my but I'm biased... And i only get 12mpg so don't feel too bad
