    welding lead length

If it is a trade off between length of power cord vs length of welding leads, certainly go for longer power cord since it carries much less current than the leads.

    Prefilling Oil Filters - Necessary?

The Cummins site Greasymechtech linked to recommends prefilling the oil filter. Wow, did no know any engine company recommended prefilling. I used to prefill for many years, stopped prefilling for the last few years, based on that residual warm oil in the bearings will provide adequate...

Bore-tite / Redi-coat coatings on oil seal mounting surface.

Thanks. It says, on page XVIII that it is not necessary to lube the OD on metal seals. It does beg the question though, does the oil interfere with the Redi-coat. My best guess, based on that they do not expressly prohibit oiling, is "no".

Bore-tite / Redi-coat coatings on oil seal mounting surface.

I am going to be installing a National oil seal with Redi-coat on its outside where it is driven into the wheel hub. This is a red coating. Does oil have to be applied to this coating to aid in installation or should it be left dry? My concern is that oil might interfere with the sealing action...

Scan Tools And Turning Off ABS Dump Valve While Vehicle Is Moving

That is easy enough to check. I will pull the ABS fuse and see if the pulsing is still there.

Scan Tools And Turning Off ABS Dump Valve While Vehicle Is Moving

Slight brake pedal pulsing won't generate wheel slip and, hence, variation in wheel speed. Thanks anyway.

    Tapcons loose in their holes

But that is the recommended bit size, doesn't quite jive with your second last post about using a smaller than recommended bit size.

Scan Tools And Turning Off ABS Dump Valve While Vehicle Is Moving

I have a very slight pulsing on the brake pedal while braking. Want to see if it is the left front or right front or both, so I hooked up my Tech 2, drove the truck and hit the LF Dump Valve On, and got a message saying it cannot be done while the vehicle is moving. Is there a scan tool that...

    Tapcons loose in their holes

So what size bit do you use for 3/16 Tapcons? 1/8 in?

    Tapcons loose in their holes

Tried something yesterday based on what JRed recommended and this is what worked for me. Drilled a hole in a concrete block with a 5/32 bit (recommended for 3/16 Tapcons) and then used a impact driver to drive in a 1/4 in Tapcon and got a nice tight fit. So tight that it would have been...

    Tapcons loose in their holes

No, I do not have the Tapcon tool. I watched the video and do not see how the tool helps with the fit. Seems to me the tool is to help avoid having to constantly switch the drill between drilling and screw driving. Into block I could easily thread the Tapcon screw in with a 1/4 in nut driver. In...

    Tapcons loose in their holes

I have not used Tapcons much at all, have always used lead anchors. plastic anchors or sleeve anchors. For 3/16 dia Tapcons, the recommended bit dia is 5/32. First tried on concrete block and while the screw threaded in, the fit was loose. Tried again while holding the hammer drill as steady as...

    Brake Pedal Pulsing

I posted earlier that I service the brakes twice yearly and that includes all you mentioned. I found out about servicing brakes the hard way. I did not service the front discs for a couple of years after I bought the truck and then found one outer pad wearing excessively because the caliper was...
