I drained old but working. GL4 IN 98 CABRIO. 200,000. PUT IN expensive REDLINE MT90 AND AT 0°F I HAD TO LET THE car IDLE FOR 15+MIN. TO GET IT TO SHIFT. !!? @100+ miles ..short trips..it got much better pushing each Synchromesh. I will retry with. Different GL4.. cheaper too. Hard to find.
In USA I CAN GET 75W90 GF4 For my old 98 Cabrio
Syncromesh 2 qts needed
75w90 by ultra1plus or Keysar.
Should I add Ford's _$10 friction modifier additive??
I am running SuperTech high mileage 0w20 Ilsac 6a API SP and DEXOS 2. USING O'REILLY 80mm Microguard select 10k filter..ADBV AND gasket are both hi temp silicone. . at 195000 burns maybe .5qt in 10K
I don't get it. I would never run hot heavier than owners manual. Like never 40 when mfgr says 30.. except a guy here says he can hear pin noise !?!? If I was in Iraq .I would run what warranty/manual says. That said I think all mfgrs(engineers) have sent out bulletins recommending using 0W...
I agree. Synthetic does Not run through high mileage seals more than conventional or blends. It appears we have two choices for 0w30 syn high mileage. I am considering adding at205 to create high mileage. Anyone?
My 2005 Montana Sv6 195000 miles does not like 5w30 magnetek full synthetic..wix xp. Lifters click when cold..any conventional oil ILSAC 6A WITH standard (5000 MILE) wix never started with noisy lifters mostly FVP 5W30. I m draining the Castrol synthetic early (5000 miles) and putting...
I dont get it. If you aren't racing or testing for an odd use fleet..oil analysis is expensive and OCD..mho. 10000..15000 OC ..is so little expense for a normal vehicle and driver. I think it is wise pull the dipstick every 1st Saturday..unless you suddenly get a leak under the car.
Me too. Stay with owners manual oil weight spec..use only Ilsac 6 or 6A ..6B..maybe Dexos2..cheapest. If you believe marketers...pay for Castrol. Mobil 1 is obsolete..mho.
