I also have the Fumoto valve and get the foamy bubbles during oil changes.
Like others have said, it just that narrow stream of oil, draining into the pan, that's causing this.
Before buying an used engine, remove one of its valve cover and see if there is any sludge.
For engines that are sludge prone (not saying this one is), then use synthetic oil and do not extended the oil change interval time.
I'll keep using synthetic oil because I'm planning to have the vehicle until 200k miles (or more I hope) and most important it needs to pass an emission test every two years.
Paying say an extra $10 to $15 for synthetic oil is cheap insurance, comparing to rebuilding an engine or buying another...
Thanks FRiZzo,
Went to the Bowmanville Walmart and picked up the remaining stock of 5W20 (5 Litres bottles).
It was placed on the top shelf, with no price listed anywhere, but did ring out at $26.88. Great price!!!
Called two NAPA (Toronto) stores today. One said they cannot order it, the other said it's never been done, nor do they know how.
They do stock a limited quantity of Pennzoil Platinum 0W20 ($10.59 per litre), but no 0W30.
FRiZzo, how much was the 5w20 Pennzoil Ultra?
Also went through various threads on this topic at this site. Opinions varied from Group IV to Group III to Semi-Blends.
The only place that I known that carries Mobil Delvac 222 Elite 0W-30 in Toronto is NOCO.
http://www.noco.ca/
The price that I was quoted last year was $32.50 for a 4 litre...
Esso XD-3 (0W30) was PAO based while Mobil Delvac Elite 222 0W-30 is "from high quality petroleum base stocks" according to their product sheet.
