    Horrible oil change

Today I changed the oil in my 2016 Nissan Rogue SV 2.5. I used a Purolator Boss 14612 and a 5 quart jug of Pennzoil Platinum 0W-20. After draining the oil and removing the old filter I cleaned off the filter base and made sure the old filter gasket was removed. It was still on the old filter. I...

Ever had a transmission fail? On what vehicle?

Never had a transmission (or engine) failure in my 47 years of driving until now. My 2016 Nissan Rogue SV's cvt went and was replaced under warranty at 30,000 miles just last month. No confidence in cvt's anymore.

The truth about CVT's (at least Subaru's) and cats

I have a 2016 Nissan Rogue SV with the Jatco CVT. I was surprised how smooth and quiet it was. When getting on the highway, I just floored it and the rpm's jumped to 4000 rpm and the car accelerated up to highway speed just like any other auto I ever drove. Fuel mileage was great, 33-34 on the...

Motor oil is now red in color

I went to Nissan for the oil change and tire rotation this morning. I mentioned to the service advisor writing up the service request about the oil being red and if they would check that. He said no one ever asked for that before. He went out to my car with me and looked at the dipstick and...

Motor oil is now red in color

I was actually thinking about that, if it was just cleaning up assembly lubes or breaking in additives.

I have not added any additives as I don't use them.

Motor oil is now red in color

I changed the oil in my 2016 Nissan Rouge at 1650 miles using Castrol GTX Magnatec 0w-20 synthetic and the specified Nissan oil filter. It's been a few weeks since I last checked the oil But I checked it today and it appears to be red as almost like tranny fluid. I have never seen oil turn red...

    Mobil super

There was/is Mobil Special that was just under the Mobil 5000 and was rumored to be the GM factory fill conventional. Don't know if it is still available. GM's Dexos spec has most likely eliminated the use of the Mobil Special oil.

    New 2016 Nissan Rogue

I bought a new 2016 Rogue three weeks ago. I've put 900 miles on it already. I'll do an oil and filter change at 1500-2000 miles. The recommended oil is 0W-20 at 5000 mile intervals but the manual also states 5W-30 conventional may be used and the warranty remains in effect. What I am wondering...
