    M1 0W-40 vs M1 5W-40 for Mercedes E55 AMG

Hello everyone, I have a 2000 E55 AMG that I don't drive much during the winter and change the oil every spring. I put about 2000 miles on it every year. I've run out of my supply of M1 0W-40 European Car Formula and need to buy more oil for the next change. I was considering getting the M1...

    2000 Mercedes E55 AMG - Mobil 1 FS 0W-40 - 1,893 Miles

Yes that's correct. Judging from the condition of the car when I got it you could be right about the OCIs. There were areas of neglect that I have worked to correct since I have had it. Replaced valve covers and fixing other engine oil leaks and replacing suspension components to name a few...

    2000 Mercedes E55 AMG - Mobil 1 FS 0W-40 - 1,893 Miles

Had this car since 2018. I usually change the oil every year regardless of mileage but skipped a few years due to COVID and not driving it a lot. Car has approximately 121K miles on it. I did a TBN to see how that was doing since it's been 2.5 years since changing. I attribute the high iron to...

    2015 Forester - whine/Rough at specific RPM

Hello there. I own a 2015 Forester with the 2.5 as well. Without sitting in the car and experiencing what you're hearing/feeling, it's hard to tell what's going on. I will say that the FB25 engine is pretty noisy. It's not the most refined so if you don't drive it often maybe that's something...

    Mercedes 229.5 5w-40

Thanks for posting. Compared to a VOA a Russian site did in 2016, It's not exact, but in the ballpark to their results. Being a novice at oil I won't comment on the makeup of it.

Opinions on 5W-40 oils for Mercedes

I have a Mercedes 2000 E55 AMG which currently uses M1 0W-40 Euro and I'm considering using a 5W-40 for the next oil change because iron in the past two UOA has been slightly higher than normal and the M1 0W-40 has been sheared down to a 30 in about 3K miles for each UOA. Given that, I just want...

    Mobil 1 0W-40, 2820 Miles, 2000 Mercedes E55 AMG

Another thought I had is that the oil filter housing is attached to the engine by a 46mm nut inside the housing where the oil flows through. You have to torque the nut to 55 ft/lbs so maybe that could get some iron particles into the oil.

    Mobil 1 0W-40, 2820 Miles, 2000 Mercedes E55 AMG

This is my second UOA on the E55. Total miles is 119,220. A link to my first UOA is below. I changed the oil because it's been one year and I store it in the winter and like to have fresh oil in it while it sits. During the life of this current oil, I had to replace the oil cooler/oil filter...
