So, Fram filters...why the bad rap?

I would tend to agree with you there, I don't like the cheapest brands of anything myself. My '01 4.7 Durango actually had a Fram TG IIRC when I got it, I took it off and tossed it due to the "Fram is bad" mentality, replaced it with a Microgard from work (I work at Oreilly's), supposedly they...

So, Fram filters...why the bad rap?

I would search more, but the search function sucks on here So I've been told for years to not run a Fram, they are garbage, majority of bad motors in the junkyards have Fram filters, yada yada. So I've always ran something else, ie "Anything but a Fram" lol. Was running PureOne for a while...

    PP 5w-30 strike-out

I'd have went with the 10w30. The first number doesn't make much difference anyway unless it's near freezing temps right?

Cleaner oil drains with premium gas

Pretty sure 93 octane burns cleaner than 87. I always run 93 in my turbo engines, and whenever I have the heads off they are a clean tan color, not the black like most engines I've had apart that I know ran on 87. For those who are apparently not understanding, the fuel isn't cleaning the oil...

    Want Higher Capacity/Volume Oil Filter

    Want Higher Capacity/Volume Oil Filter

Is there really any advantage to running a larger filter? I know people used to always run Ford truck 302 filters on the Chrysler 2.2 turbos because they were larger, but other than an extra 1/2 quart of oil, I don't really know why they thought it was better than the stock size (which is a...

    Failed WIX 57356

Yeah a lot of V8 or I-6 filters hold a quart, or near to it. The International DT466E filter I changed not long ago held a full gallon :0

Best Xw-30 Oil for Winter of 2013/2014 ?

I've run all different 10w30 summer and winter in my turbo Lebaron GTC, no bearing or turbo failure yet. And I typically run 15+ psi. That's on a Garrett T3 turbo, maybe the Mitsubishi-style turbos are more finicky. I did have one of those go bad on my Daytona (TD04). I'm about to switch to...

Rotella T1 vs synthetic oils in roller OHV/OHC

Nice, Yeah I ran Kendall GT-1 in my 2.2 turbo w/ a slider cam, seemed to work great. Good to know on Castrol Edge.

Rotella T1 vs synthetic oils in roller OHV/OHC

Might be T3, I forget lol. So, it's okay to run in a engine, but would it be better to run a full synthetic, like Mobil 1, Royal Purple, Pennz Platinum etc? I guess my thought was that without flat tappets to worry about, you could take advantage of a newer full synthetic formula with less...
