This is the 2nd change of AMSOIL signature series on this customers vehicle. First time I tested at 16k miles. And changed at 20k.
This time we stretched to 25 was goal but missed and hit 26 and change.. 1 qt top off.
Truck now has 202k miles on it.
Well.. To anyone saying overrated..
This was first change of a customer of mines truck. Sample at 16k miles. Changed it at 20k miles.
Second time running AMSOIL sig series oil, this was at 26k miles at the time..
Its a known oil burning engine.
Change PCV valve.
Run a couple changes on 5w20. See if oil usage is bad..
My mother in laws was using a qt every 1k miles.
Changed to AMSOIL 10W30 XL series, and the first change it slowed it to 1qt every 3k. Next change 1qt every 4-4500 miles or so. Last change...
AMSOIL finally did it. alot of us didnt even know this was coming till it popped up yesterday...

Yes its flat tappet. Any SN rated oil will do fine with it though. QS Defy or Valvoline Maxlife are what I would run.
I wouldn't go expensive on trans fluid. Get some basic off the shelf trans oil.
Yes go ahead and change diff fluid.
If want basic 80w90 is factory spec.
75w90 is synthetic...

Yeah.. But this truck also gets ALOT of idle time at job sites. Is driven in severe traffic at rush hour commonly.
This is a customer of mines truck. Its a 2010 Silverado with a 5.3 in it.. He drives about 50k miles a year.
This was over like 4 months he put 16k+ on the truck. We installed a EA15K50 filter on it...
Previously this truck has only had conventional and Walmart Fram filters every 3k miles.
I...
Well first stick with an oil type longer than 1 change to see a difference.. It takes time for a HM oil to work its magic..
I'd stick with VML and go 7500 between changes and topoff when needed.
Run a good filter like a wix.
