Exhaust in vents...then no exhaust in vents

This is a long shot but check and see if the exhaust manifold is cracked. My sister has a 2000 Civic and I spent an hour trying to track down an exhaust leak. I finally noticed some carbon on the manifold around the cracks. If I remember correctly it was cracked on cylinder #3.

    Problem: Very high oil pressure

Another vote for a failed pressure sending unit. Had one fail on my last truck ('05 Chevy with the 6.0). Like Corvette Owner suggested have him see if the gauge stays pegged with the ignition on but the engine not running.

    Rolling The Microwave Dice

Good luck with the new unit. Be careful though. Just because you bought a commercial one doesn't mean it's necessarily any better though. The commercial equipment is starting go downhill fast when it comes to restaurant equipment. A few years back the restaurant chain I work for started...

    Air compressor in the rafters

My grandpa had one up in the rafters of his shop. It wasn't very big, probably a 20 gal one. Overall it was a pretty good setup-he plumbed air lines to a few points in the garage. I do remember it being pretty noisy, but don't recall it causing any issues(I think it just sat right on a couple...

    Trailer wheel question

Like others have said, it's not the best idea, but I wouldn't hesitate to do it on a smaller trailer. We used to do this all the time on the open race car trailer-never had issues.

Post your annual milage on your DD

This year I should come close to putting 40,000 miles on my truck. In years past it's been more like 25k. My role in the company I work for has changed so I'm doing a ton more traveling. At least I get reimbursed for all my travels, but at 12.5 mpg, it really doesn't cover much more than gas...

    1998 z71 front &rear diff's

Yes, you should be fine. I had no issues in my last truck('98 GMC 1500 Z71) running it. As far as the LS additive, mine didn't need it, but I don't recall specifically which rear end was in it. The manual specs call for conventional in the front, but if you want to spend the extra $ go for it.

    users of mobil conventional

I've been using Mobil conventional for around 8 yrs. I've used it in everything from a 455 Olds to a Honda with no issues. My truck just hit 160K and that's all it's seen since the factory fill. With the exception of the piston slap that the 6.0's are notorious for, the truck runs as good as it...

    Kumho's Road Venture AT KL78

Pretty sure those are the exact tires I have on my truck at the moment. I've been happy enough with them-I'm on my third set. Tread life was about 45,000 miles on each set when I replaced them, but they were right about down to the tread wear indicators. They will wear pretty quick at first, but...

    Dealing with malicious drivers

While we don't have traffic like that where I live, the same thing happens where there is construction. Traffic will be backed up a mile and there will be a handfull of idiots that will blow by and try to cut in right where the lane is closed. Last year I had enough of it and blocked a guy from...

Anybody delt with Alzheimers or Dementia?

Chris, I whitnessed this first hand in our family. Grandma was having trouble managing her diabetes so mom moved in with her parents to help out. Things got worse with grandma and the focus stayed on her. Looking back this was when things started to change with grandpa but we didn't notice it...

    Excell/Devillbiss VR2500 Washer Replacement Pump

In all reality, a new pump will probably cost close to what a new unit runs. Try northerntool.com. Pressure washers are one of the areas they specialize in. Good luck!

Rusted heatshield around cat on 2002 Honda Civic

I had the same issue on my BIL's Accord. Not sure if it's exactly the same, but his was bolted together. The back 2 were rusted off, but there was plenty of solid metal next to where the originals had been so I just took a visegrip, clamped it together a little further back, and used 1/4" bolts...

    04 Silverado 2500 HD Gas

That sounds about right. I rarely drive that fast but I know that at 75, I'm turning right around 2500. I'm pretty sure that with the 6.0, the only rearend available was the 4.10 until '06 or '07.

    Cars vs computers

For all of us who feel only the deepest love and affection for the way computers have enhanced our lives, read on. At a recent computer expo (COMDEX), Bill Gates reportedly compared the computer industry with the auto industry and stated, 'If Ford had kept up with technology like...
