    Giving your stuff away...

My wife of 42 years passed recently, so I am knee deep in her death cleaning and realized just last PM that I am also doing my own. Highly recommend "The Gentle Art of Swedish Death Cleaning" by Margareta Magnusson. Very thin book, easy read, thought provoking.

    Shingles -The Illness

I had a serious case of Shingles. Left side of my face. Could have cost me my sight, about that in a bit. Three weeks in a dark quiet room, 5 medications. Exhausting. Very painful, even with Gabapentin for the nerve pain. Get Vaccinated, Shingrix, series of 2 injections. Should protect for at...

    Driving At Night

Sorry to hear of your partial blindness. I can relate, blind from birth in my right eye. (Amblyopia) 20/800 on a good day. I recently had left eye cataract surgery and post surgery was a revelation. To be 20/20 at 68 years old. Best of luck holding on to the one eye that works. From about the...

    Cops and traffic law enforcement

I am glad I came across this discussion. Here in the San Francisco Bay Area, life behind the wheel is chaotic and uncivilized. Stop Signs, Yield Signs, Red Lights. None of it seems to matter. Law Enfocement, at least from where I sit is sorely lacking. In theory, our local PD has a Traffic...

Red Line/Ester based oils for engine cleaning?

Many years ago, when I first switched to Red Line for my 1984 Ford wagon (LTD, 3.8L v6) I noticed that after about two weeks with the new oil, it seemed to be changing color much sooner than I expected. With some thought, my conclusion was that the engine had some sludge built up. I did some...

sgi - retro video on their hardware and software

I worked on that product line, power supplies. They were really complex because they were also responible for cooling air flow. Compounded by several hardware configurations. SGI's downfall was buying Cray Computers. fat biker
