    Hydrostatic fluid

Joel, I noticed the tag on the hydro when putting the wheel weights on this afternoon, it is the Sunstrand unit. Richie

    Hydrostatic fluid

Thanks guys, haven't had the tractor long and no idea of how it was mantained before I got it so I wanted to change everything before I used it too much. We've been pretty lucky here and have only had 1" of snow. I'm really anxious to try it out, but I don't want to wish for snow! Joel, I'm not...

    Hydrostatic fluid

I have a Ford 120 from the 60's with the hydrostatic trans. Manual calls for type A tranny fluid. Local NAPA didn't have any (small town, only one parts store) and they weren't 100% sure what could replace it. So I didn't buy anything until I was sure. Is there anything else that is compatable...

    '87 Volvo steering problems

It is a great little car. It runs like a top, except for the steering, but at 190K miles I guess you gotta expect some problems! I'm getting the system flushed and new fluid Friday, hopefully that will answer some questions. Richie [ March 29, 2006, 11:03 PM: Message edited by: Fabmanrich ]

    '87 Volvo steering problems

1987 Volvo 740GLE, when I got the car 1 1/2 years ago, the steering was OK to the left, but first turn of steering wheel to the right was hard, then OK rest of way. Now it is hard all the time. Noticed fluid was thick and silver colored. Was that from rack internals wearing out? Siphoned all I...

Albert Einstein really say compound interest ......

I always thought it was some financial **. I heard Einstein wouldn't cash his checks so the college set up charge accounts all over town for him. Is this true? I heard he said if he knew the atomic bomb would be the result of his theory of relalivity, he would have been an accountant. Richie

    Which pads for new rotors?

The manufacturer of the rotors suggested a high performance brake pad. But I wouldn't want too hard or aggresive of a pad, I live in the Finger Lakes region of NY and seems like you can't go anywhere without going up and down hills. I would rather replace cheaper soft pads more often then the...

    Which pads for new rotors?

The rear rotors on my truck are shot (2000 Ford F150), and the fronts don't look all that great. Can get cross-drilled/slotted online for about the same price as original replacements locally. If I went with the CD/S rotors, what kind of pads should I use? Anything special or whatever I can get...

    Which fluid to use?

Wanted to change the tranny fluid on a '87 Volvo 740GLE. Owners manual calls for Dexron II D. Last time at AutoZone they only had Dexron III. Do they still make the other stuff? Is there suitable replacement? Car has 177K miles and I would like to keep it going for a couple more years (daughters...

    Vovlo Brake Squeal

I let it set up before installing. Am going take it apart and check everything again. Had two different sets of pads on the rear and the same one squealed both times. Could the pads be too loose in the caliper? Maybe not enough pressure on the spring clip? No matter what I've tried, it's the...

    Vovlo Brake Squeal

I've tried the anti-squeal goop and the shims with no luck. I've been told unless you use ceramic pads on Volvos, it will squeal, tried it, didn't help. I've also heard to only use original Volvo pads, haven't tried that yet. Could something be worn or loose letting it vibrate? Richie

    Vovlo Brake Squeal

Recently changed pads and rotors all around and got squeal afterwards. 1987 740GLE with Bendix non-ABS brake system. Only squeals on right rear. No squeal before brake job, no noise from other three wheels after. Any help would be appreciated, noise is annoying! Thanks, Richie

    Brake fluid DOT3 vs DOT4

Thanks guys, you gave some food for thought (haven't checked those links yet, Ken). The stuff that was in it when we got it was clear, not blue or amber. The different color sure would make it easier when flushing. Richie
