New Honda Recall (fuel pump) - in case anyone here owns one of the affected vehicles.

Between the Acura MDX and Honda CR-V Hybrid vehicles in my signature, there are three stop sale recalls for the two. MDX has the engine connecting rod bearing + fuel pump recalls; CR-V Hybrid has the missing fuse in the battery cable. I'm less worried about the CR-V, but concerned how the MDX...

Has Anyone Had Tires Mounted & Balanced By A Mobile Tire Service?

If I recall, Tread Connection had a $50-75 visit fee. (As my location is no longer in business, I can't look up the rate card) The cost for a flat repair was roughly $30-50, so all in, $80-125. I suspect even with the convenience factor included, most folks won't pay that for a flat repair.

Has Anyone Had Tires Mounted & Balanced By A Mobile Tire Service?

At the start of COVID, I used a Tread Connection franchisee to install a set of Continental CrossContact LX25s on my wife's minivan. Tires were purchased and installed by the service. I went to their website, entered vehicle details, selected tires, and scheduled an appointment. (If I recall, it...

GY Assurance Outlast vs. Michelin CrossClimate2

There's also the Goodyear Reliant, which is $95 each + $18 each installation. We had those on a used Subaru Forester and they were perfectly adequate. Another member recently put them on their child's vehicle, so may have have an update...

    Acura J35 recall - bearings

My 2020 MDX is subject to this recall. Received a Carfax alert yesterday and then my local dealer proactively reached out. Parts aren’t available yet, so this is a wait and see. I’ve seen reports come up for this on the TLX forum. It’s not frequent, but a few here and there. It’s not clear...

Quick Thoughts: 2023 Subaru Outback 2.5 Limited

2024 should be the last model year of Gen 6 (2020-2024). We'll see what happens. I really wanted to like this generation of the Outback, but there's enough reported on the Outback owner forums that gives me pause.

    Rental review: 2023 CR-V

That looks like an EX based on the presence of the moonroof. https://automobiles.honda.com/cr-v#trims-specs We have the prior generation 2022 CR-V Touring Hybrid. The interior is nicer as you move up to the top trims, but it wouldn't be mistaken for a Mazda interior. Honda had supply...

    New Cross Climate 2

Just put a set of CrossClimate2 on the 2020 Acura MDX (245/50/VR20). 200 miles in, so still in the break in period. No difference in noise compared to the original Continental OEMs. The CrossClimate2's did well in heavy rain this past week and they feel significantly better on road bumps. I...

    2019 Subaru Impreza anyone?

We have a 2023 Impreza as a third family vehicle, primarily for a teen driver. 2023 is the last model year of that generation. It's small, nimble (extremely easy to drive in a city and around town), and safe. I think acceleration is adequate and frankly the car is geared such that it feels...

    Accord Hybrid vs Crosstrek?

I've owned several 1st or 2nd model year of Honda and Acura vehicles over the years., Specifically, 2008 Accord, 2014 MDX, 2017 MDX (mid cycle refresh but introduced ZF9 auto transmission), 2019 Odyssey. All of these vehicles had their quirks or enough TSBs to keep the local dealer busy. The...

    Accord Hybrid vs Crosstrek?

Yes, our Impreza has the 2.0 engine. Crosstrek Sport & Limited gets the 2.5 engine upgrade. There are many reports of how "slow" the 2.0 engine is. I think it's adequate, especially for in-town use and relatively easy highway driving. Our regular travel routes also don't involve significant...

    Accord Hybrid vs Crosstrek?

I've spent time in an Accord Hybrid EX-L as our local Honda dealer used them as service loaners. Also own a 2022 CR-V Hybrid and 2023 Impreza Base. Since you mentioned first model year issues with the Accord, the Crosstrek is being updated for 2024. Same engines carry over, but 2024 Crosstrek...

Turo Rental: 2022 Toyota Sienna Hybrid

When I shopped 3-row SUVs, the MDX handled exceptionally well for a vehicle with that number of rows (without getting into BMW/Mercedes/Audi territory). The Pilot felt bulkier, but that's reflected in its interior capacity. Once you are shopping the Honda Elite trims, the interior quality...

Turo Rental: 2022 Toyota Sienna Hybrid

As the owner of a 3rd gen MDX, I'm curious how Honda/Acura makes the MDX competitive against the new Pilot. The new Pilot looks like a compelling "value" that undercuts what Acura is charging for the MDX (and older technology). The 2023 Pilot Elite comes in around $53K, while a MDX Tech is about...
