    Whoa, castrol's 10w40 thinner than their 5w40??

Yup he's right. May not be ideal for cold weather but they make great summer time oils though, especially for cars that have high compression engines, turbo or weekend racers. They're a great alternative to using costly race formulated oils too

After starting, how long before driving?

Your idle rpm range is higher during a cold start so that the engine doesn't sputter and die out(and probably for emissions), not necessarily because it's some kind of intentional warm-up timer or whatever other theory someone out there made up. Engine oil circulates through the engine far...

After starting, how long before driving?

If you take a look at many vehicle instruction manuals it's often stated that you can gently drive off(in some cases like my recent mazda manual they actually state "should") as soon as the engine runs smooth. So unless you live in a below freezing temps and use conventional oil, you really...

    Formula Shell Synthetic

I did take a look at that used oil analysis before posting my opinion on my past experiences and it's why I explained my thoughts thoroughly as well, a 2hr freeway commute done on a peaky engine with short gearing may have a bit to do with the shearing too as the used oil analysis was from a...

I need the oil that will get me the MOST POWER.

for those not in the know, the engine used in these cars is also the same as the late model 4cyl nissan altimas just to give more info for possible oil recommendations

    Formula Shell Synthetic

The price on this stuff is great but i'm not too sure about it when compared to some other gpIII oils in terms of longevity. I used to have an 00' miata (1.8L dohc, 9:1 compression to give you an idea) which aren't known for being hard on oils and it would consume quite a bit of 5w30 formula...

I need the oil that will get me the MOST POWER.

Well it does sound like a funny question but perhaps it's the way he worded it. It's not a ridiculous question to ask to be honest. Usually a thinner oil will result in a free-er spinning engine(thus more power) and can give you better gas mileage at the cost of not being as robust as a...
