SOPUS Products to go up 5%

Base oils went up 10 or so cents/gallon last week. Shell is raising prices and looking to see if anyone follows suit. Much of what Shell and others sell is at a discount to their list price, it is easy for them to discount more if the list price increases.

    Chevron Supreme...where to buy?

You should be able to find a distributor who would be willing to sell you between $2.05 and $2.20 per quart. I would.

Smitty's is the US largest buyer of flush oil and distressed additive.

Chevron Clarity Hydraulic Oil AW ISO 32 vs Amsoil

Any zinc free AW 32 hydraulic should be fine. The Amsoil likely not (I don't believe THFs are ashless). If you can find a local Chevron distributor with bulk, they may provide you a liter.

    Water 'type' in pre-mixes?

Any quality premix antifreeze/coolant uses DI water. (in answer to the OP)

Direct injection, intake carbon buildup, low SAPS

I've read many complaints of intake carbon build-up on direct injected engines. Some have claimed that the use of low SAPS motor oils will minimize this tendancy due to the reduction of sulfated ash. I have also read that low SAPS oil are not recommended for use in gasoline engines in the US...

What is better? PAO Only or Pao/Ester Oil?

Esters are usually found in PAO based synthetics as it helps keep the additives in suspension. Back in the early days of Mobil 1 it suffered from additive drop out if it sat too long.

Currently availible Dex II or Dex III

Lots of manufacturers still make fluids that meet the old Dexron III spec, but cannot call it that due to GM's restrictions. Chevron has ATF MD-3 for example.

Havoline now priced higher than many syn blends

Semi-synthetic is more of a marketing term and less of an indication of formulation.

All that acid in RLI oil (Renewable Lubricants)

Polyol esters have a naturally high acid number. I am assuming this oil is a plant based POE. The increase in TAN is an indication of oxidation over time. One test by itself doesn't really mean much.

Found some syn. green oil other than GC

Expect more availability of Total pcmos, some are pretty interesting.

Idea I had about ester compressor oil

Refrigeration oils can be also be naphthenic, parafinic, alkyl-benzine or PAO. Polyglycols are not misable with other base oils. Redline motor oil is polyol ester based, so are aircraft turbine oils. I once used half a quart of Aeroshell Turbine Oil 555 as a 5 minute flush, can't say it did any...
