    Kawasaki KLR650 is baaaack ...

Here is "the doohickey" in it's native habitat, circa 2008 at 2000 miles. This is the first year of the "fixed" version of the doo. The shaft on the right is the crankshaft. The shaft on the left is the front counterbalancer, which also drives the water pump at the other end of the shaft. At the...

    5w-30 for Turbo GDI

The Gamma 1.6 T-GDI in my Elantra GT N-line will see only Amsoil SS 5W30.

    Kawasaki KLR650 is baaaack ...

Some same yes, based on this from the Rider article: And the aforementioned increased reliability comes courtesy of a stronger material and shape for the cam chain guide material. The doohickey has nothing to do with the cam chain. It is the tension adjust lever for the two chain-driven...

It is ok to run Amsoil 20w50 on BMW R ninet (R1200 oil cool) ??

I've run Amsoil 20W50 in many motorcycles when ambient temperatures were above freezing. Amsoil also offers a 15W50 motorcycle-specific oil. Why wouldn't you use it? It works well in my Triumph Tiger Explorer. Amsoil MFF 15W50

Non inverter generators for home use.

My low budget Predator non-inverter generator has run my house for 5 days twice now. None of the electronics in the house suffered from it.

Searching for a classic/vintage bike. Help me pick one

The CBX was an amazing machine when it was made in relatively small numbers 40 years ago. If you're going to keep it around for a while the parts sources will begin to dry up. I sold my 1984 V65 Sabre for that very reason. How about a CB900F? During my time at a Honda dealer we sold at least 5X...

    Automotive bulbs

A couple months ago I sold my 2008 Mazda 3 and it still had all of its original light bulbs at 61k miles. I have no real evidence but I think it's due to tighter voltage regulation in newer vehicles.

    Damping grease

I recently used the same product on my Triumph Tiger Explorer for the same reason. Prior to applying the Nyogel the throttle was very twitchy, especially on rougher surfaces. It is by far the most expensive grease I've ever seen, but it did exactly what it was meant to do.

    Repairing potted electronics

There are a hundred different potting compounds ranging from rock-hard epoxy with embedded sand to gooey stuff that comes off with a fingernail. Part of my job is "competitive analysis" and I get to dig a lot of the stuff out of competitor's products. In your case I would avoid chemistry and...

    High octane fuel?

During our last 4-day power outage my Predator 212cc based generator got a tank full of 93 octane from my old Honda CL350. It didn't run any differently on that tank as far as I could tell.

Is Aluminum Wiring Okay To Use

What you have is copper-clad aluminum wire and I would not use it in anything I cared about. Maybe speakers. The resistivity of aluminum is higher than that of copper, so if your wire has the proper conductor diameter for 10 AWG wire then its resistance is higher than 10 AWG copper. Aluminum...

    NGK Ruthenium Spark Plugs

Ruthenium is "new" and mysterious, so it must be better! Just wait until those Unobtanium plugs come out. It's going to be EPIC.

2018 Kia Forte - low compression on 2 cyliners

I'd be looking for a different dealer and a second opinion. If the two low cylinders are adjacent (are they?) the problem screams head gasket. We're on our fifth Hyundai/Kia since 1986. No major problems with any of them so far.
