Quaker State HM FS 5W30 D1G3 VOA

I've been using the VFSHMEP since it came out and the older VFSHM for years before that (even in my new cars) and it has been more than adequate. For the extra few dollars, I'm quite happy with it, but who knows for sure if it is better than QSHM or anything else for that matter. I drive...

Cooper opinions and interesting NHTSA stats

Just an update to my original post, I ended up buying Falken Rubitrek AT. Have about 5k on them now and they have been very good. Still early in their life to know how good for sure. Pretty comparable to their Wildpeak AT3, but was less expensive.

Champion of the Walmart Shelf! SuperTech vs QuakerState vs Valvoline

My Walmart has reduced the oil stock so much that there really isn't much more than those three brands even in the store, and where there is the stock is really low. Personally, I run both Valvoline and ST depending on the vehicle, but I have absolutely no problem running the QS if that was all...

    TRD PTR43-00079 ('21 Toyota 4Runner) *Edit

Its everything I expected it to be and I love it. It is my wife's daily for now, but here in a year or two it will become our spare vehicle and my hunting and fishing rig. The Tundra is great but just too big for some of the back-road trails I go on. I've always wanted a 4Runner, so I decided to...

    TRD PTR43-00079 ('21 Toyota 4Runner) *Edit

Looks good. I've used the TRD filter on my Tundra for the last few years. They are hard to find right now and I just put my last one from my stash on last week. I purchased some old stock Wix XP's last year that will keep me going for another several years. The TRD feels better built than the...

Tire Life - should I replace these tires?

If they're getting noisey, that means the rubber is getting hard. Even though you're in a temperate climate, they won't perform as well under wet conditions. Tires and brakes are the top safety parts of a vehicle. I don't suggest skimping on them if possible. I personally would replace them.

Valvoline Restore & Protect 5w-30 (Gonna Take a Chance)

Maybe if the reason is stuck rings that it can loosen up. Probably take a while if it did work.

Kumho will start selling the HA32 all-weather tire in the US in 2024

They like to copy Michelin tread patterns. HT51 is another example.

    Safety Seal Tire Plugs

Personally, I would not sweat the date code at all. I really doubt they are rotating stock like that anyway. Safety Seal are the best you can get and as long as they aren't laying out in the sun and stored away, I don't buy the degradation statement. The 6 year thing is probably just a liability...

    New tire blow out

TPMS is not immediate in it's reporting. That loud pop you heard was likely something (probably large like a bolt) that punctured the tire and came out of the tire and hit the wheel-well or undercarriage. Then it lost pressure quickly. Then it ran flat causing that damage like others have...

    5W-20, 0W-20 or 5W-30 for 3.6L Pentastar (Jeep)

I'm sure you are already aware that there is a class action lawsuit on these issues (at least I think there is unless it was already resolved).

    5W-20, 0W-20 or 5W-30 for 3.6L Pentastar (Jeep)

"No" to your first line because "yes" to your second line. Bad design and poor quality parts.

1st snow with Falken Rubitrek tires

These are the first set of Falkens I have purchased. Did a lot of research before buying and I'm comfortable with what I did.

1st snow with Falken Rubitrek tires

I see the Wildpeaks discussed a lot, but not the Rubitreks, so I thought I'd give you some very early thoughts on these. They're a tire to consider I think due to the price difference. I replaced my OE Michelin LTX AT2's on my 2020 Tundra a few weeks ago at 48,500 with some Falken Rubitreks. I...

What is the final word on tire shine?

I agree with dishdude. If you like it, use it, but is only cosmetic. There a lot real UV proctecants for rubber out there if you want to try them, but you have to ask if the cost is worth the percieved benefits. It is "merica. Do what you want. My tires never last long enough treadwear-wise to...
