    Rotella T 5w40

Hey Justin, I just finished a 5k mi run of SRT Syn 5W-40 (w/Auto-Rx) in our '02 9³SE. It's my 3nd choice for oil in these engines. Where are you buying the SRT Syn? Wal Mart carries 4qt jugs of Mobil 1 "Turbo Diesel Truck" 5W-40 for only $3 more than a 4qt jug of SRT Syn, & it's a much better...

    atf driveing me crazy!!!!!

My AT experience is limited to two Saab 4-speed Aisin-Warner units (two different vehicles) over the past 9 yrs. Here's what I know about ATF (as it relates to Dexron & Mobil products): Due to GM's release of Dexron VI synthetic blend ATF, no new fluid can be labeled as "Dexron III." It can...

    02 Miata, 10043, 125k total, M1 0w20 vs 0w40

cheetahdriver, how long/far has it been since the last oil change to 0W-20? You say your wife's mileage has gone up to 31 mpg, but I don't see where your mileage is listed for the two different oils.

You seem to be the one who's "missed it." Not only am I asking everyone, I'm also asking you ( ): provide the concrete data that proves M1 0W-40 thins into unequivocal 30 wt territory in every non-turbocharged engine that uses it. Until then, keep your old wive's tales between you & your cronies.

Okay, here are a couple of shots of how my K&N air filter looked after 90,000 miles without a cleaning. C900 K&N after 90,000 miles, pic #1 C900 K&N after 90,000 miles, pic#2 As you can tell, I rotated the filter about 1/4 turn every 10k miles or so just to even out the dirt...

Diesel oil in gas engine reply - long

SCM746, D1 is SL rated, while D1 ESP & M1 TDT are both SM rated. I think an '02 is approved using SL, isn't it? So, while M1 TDT is least expensive, all three of these 5W-40s should be good to go in your gasoline engine. How often are you changing the oil? I just replaced our '99 Saab T5 with...

    Delvac 1 5W40.....or......Shell Rotella 5W40

True, but I think the OP could easily find M1 5W-40 for only a few $ more than RTS. ($26/gal vs $20/gal) For the performance difference, that makes M1 a screamin' deal. Of course, not every engine needs the additional performance offered by M1 5W-40, so saving a few $ might make sense.

    M1 mix 0W-40/15W-50, 12 mo/20k mi, 1990 Saab 900

Hey Joe, no, I'm not worried at all about the consumption. The car has always consumed about this much ever since I bought it 10 yrs ago with 113k mi on it. I agree, keeping it topped off is key, & I've thought about just changing oil filters every 1yr/20k mi & never changing the oil again. I'm...

    Delvac 1 5W40.....or......Shell Rotella 5W40

The biggest difference is that M1 is "true syn" Grp4 (PAO) while Shell is Grp3. It depends on what you're running it in, how long you want to run it, & where in CO you are, as to whether or not you'll see any practical difference between the two.

Missing UOA posts, last one needed?

Hey JAG, thanks for the list! (I didn't know I could do that!) No, there's nothing later than the 60k mile UOA on this car. Also, I noticed that some of the links to previous BITOG postings (in my earlier UOAs) don't find any pages. Oh well...
