I have had winter tyre on my Impreza's since 2002. 2002 to 2012 Toyo Snow Proxies that were great. I bought a three year old set of Yokohama Iceguards late 2013 and used them last winter in snowey Aberdeenshire. They were very good. I did not notice any difference in fuel consumption. eddie

Riggas Mazda UK give Autodata their recommendation which is 5W/20. Mazda US will give a different recommendation as they do on the MX5. You cannot look at one countries number and then say that ties in with a different market, I know that just sounds daft. eddie

If it's their car just butt out and let them spend their money on what they want. Nothing to be gained from putting in your opinion unless it is asked for and they usually do what the wanted to do anyway

Check the bottle or the spec sheet. Most better quality A3 oils are A3/B4 that's petrol A3/ direct injection diesel B4. Simple. eddie

I guess the 2009 graph may be wrong or the 2009 spec did not take into account the actual quality of the oils supplied by the blenders with respect to after treatment. eddie
