If you want to use the best quality oil, look into the Toyota 0w20 SN made by Mobil or the Mazda 0w20 SN made by Idemitsu. I have a 2012 Civic and put the Mazda in on my first change and plan to do the Toyota next. Will do a UOA on both and post on this site.

Isn't the Euro L approved for VW 504, which is a designation for gas engines? Not saying it's appropriate for the Lexus, though.

What about the Toyota SN 0w20? I know Toyota recommends 0w20 for many of their new V6 engines. It's pretty cheap and has a ridiculously high viscosity index.

I drove a Prius for 3 years, just traded it in for a new TDI. I was in love with the technology and with the extremely low cost maintenance but did not love the car. The driving experience was more like driving a golf cart than a car. I had no issues whatsoever with fit/finish or anything else...

I called a local Mazda dealer yesterday, asking for a quote on an oil change for my son's Civic with the Mazda branded 0w20. Was told they prefer to use a Valvoline synthetic that is far superior to the Mazda that's almost half as much. Said the only thing the Mazda branded stuff does is cost...

This was my 3rd oil change in a row using the Pennzoil. My car has the 2.0 common rail TDI engine.

There is no 5/40 that is approved for this engine (VW 507 compliant). The 507 oils seem to be pretty close to that, though. Note the viscosity numbers.

It is the proper oil for the engine (VW 507). I don't understand your last question.
