New Mobil 1 Advanced Clean vs. Valvoline Restore and Protect

Most vehicles these days have an OCI indicator and go about 7,000 +- miles when the light says change oil. I run my oil to 80% and change it that is a bit over 5K miles. 2021 GMC Canyon 3.6 V6. I do this to help the valve train and fuel diloution, I can smell a faint whiff of gasoline in the oil...

Mobil 1 0W30 in my 2006 CRV that calls for 5W20

After warranty I went to Mobil 1 5w30 from Mobil 1 0w20 in my Jeep GC Limeted with the 3.6 V6. Starts and runs much more quiet, I had answers all over the place about doing this. The engine has been used for quite a while all over the world with many flavors of oil and has a history of cam, cam...

My Quest for Good Cheap Oil

NAPA oil is made by Valvoline or it was. I used their 15-40 in my boat engine a lot and not one problem. A lot of budget oils like Kirkland and Super Tech are made by Warren products.

Switching from 0w-20 to 0w-30 experience

I have a Jeep GC Limited 3.6 V6 and used O-20 till the warranty was over and went to 5-20. Not much difference in the two. Next OCI I will go to 5-30. Here in Fla today at 7AM it was 88 degrees and 94 at noon. My reason for 5-30. I also have a GMC Canyon with a 3.6 in it and between the two...

It’s the 1990’s: what motor oil and grade are you using?

    In the 90s I had a 1993 S-10 2.8 V6 and a 1980 Olds Cutlass with a 4.3 V8 and they both got Mobil 1 15w50 I never had a problem.

    Tires for GMC Canyon

For sure, they were cheaper than the Coopers I was looking at. I took the road hazzard and with tax and mounting charges they were a bit over $800. Walmart has a really good warranty for replacement on tire and repairs. I go with when traveling that there is always one nearby. The same thing at...

    Tires for GMC Canyon

Yes, they are good in the raid. I purposely tried to break them loose in the wet and they stuck. That was the worst thing abut the Y Fortitudes, besides they were not LTs and the Conti is.

    Tires for GMC Canyon

Continental TerrainContact a/t tires have been much better tan the GY Wrangler Fortitudes. They are smooth as glass, seem to have good traction and good highway manners. So far so good and no change in mileage. They are LT tires where the stock Goodyear wranglers were not.

Should I trust Jeep engineers on 0W-20?

I just did this with my Jeep GC Limited. Going to 5/20 gives me a bit of peace of mind. It made no actual difference at all. Oil pressure is 26/29 stopped in drive and 30 lbs at driving speed. I have 42K on mine and out of warranty.

    Tires for GMC Canyon

Had them installed Friday and have only driven about 20 miles. They are smooth and quiet. That's a good start for me.

    Tires for GMC Canyon

I just found Continental TerrainContact A/T on sale at Walmart for $178 Ea. Seems like a good deal to me and they have good reviews. Anyone use these?

    Tires for GMC Canyon

I think I will go with the Cooper Discoverer A/T3 or the Falken Wildpeak A/T2 W. Seems to be a good priced tires and they have good reviews.

Jeep Grand Cherokee 3.6L proper oil?

I was told not to use anything but 0-20 in my 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited 3.6 V6. The reason was that the cam phasers need that weight oil and if i went to 5-20 or 5-30 the computer would start acting up because of the thicker oil exiting the cam phasers. I know this engine started a bunch...
