(HPL) Oil recommendations on a new engine design - '24 Mazda CX-90 I-6 Turbo

The 2.2 is an older engine dimension wise. Mostly in Miatas. It has, of course, up grades and improvements.

(HPL) Oil recommendations on a new engine design - '24 Mazda CX-90 I-6 Turbo

the engine is the Mazda 2.2 four cylinder with two more cylinders. What works for the 4 cylinder will work just fine with the 6. Any good synthetic is a good choice. My 2¢

    '24 Mazda CX-90 Oil & Filter Specs

the Fram 6607 size filter is often listed as the recommended one for all Mazda engines. Some of us use the oversize 7317 filter (Fram numbers). The better grades of those filters are a good choice also. My 2¢

    First oil change 2024 CX-5

Mazda filters do NOT have an ADBV. It's mounted vertically do an ADBV isn't needed.

    First oil change 2024 CX-5

there is no down side to using an oversize filter. As the OS filter is the same price as the tiny filter some MFGs use, why not? As mentioned, a large filter will flow more/better.

    First oil change 2024 CX-5

It's an oversize filter, so it flows better. Also after market filters, the better grades anyway, can filter better, catching smaller particles. While it isn't important with normal oil changes, a larger filter has more holding capacity. Also, filters are available everywhere, so no need to run...

    First oil change 2024 CX-5

5000 is plenty early. Mazda says 7500 for the NA engine. My dealer said to run the first oil change out to 5000 miles. So I did. Once I started changing my own oil, I used the 7317 size filter (Fram numbers) . It's oversize and readily available. My 2¢

Does Where Oil Filters are Made Matter?

Denso has a factory in Mexico. They make some of Mazdas factory filters there, and perhaps some other MFG's as well.

    Mazda - 1WPE-14-302 - 8043 miles - C&P

Been using Fram XG7317. Large and better filtration. Added a magnetic drain plug as well. My 2¢

Benefits of Running a Larger Oil Filter? (Cold starts etc)

I've run oversized filters on my autos for years, including my Mazda CX-5. The 7317 (Fram) works fine there, and fits well. Not aware of any down side to oversize filters. My 2¢

    2020 CX5 oil capacity discrepancy

Most all engines can easily handle a half quart over fill. Some older V8 and some V6 engines could work just fine with a whole quart over fill. My 2¢

    Engine break in.

I partially fill a filter even if its slanted. The ADBV will stop spillage. I've even pre-filled a horizontal mounted filter. Careful and coordinated install is required.

    Engine break in.

Dealer told me to run the factory fill until the 5000 mile mark(recomended interval anyway). To help things along, I added a 'break in additive as soon as I got home from buying.

    Pre-fill OF

I've even done it on horizontal mounted filters. Thankfully nothing in the way. The ADBV keeps the oil back and I block the center hole with my finger until the last second, then quickly put filter to the threaded stub and screw it on quickly. My 2¢
