Not sure what that means except it has to do with the HTHS? Are you saying don't use the M1 5w50? Or are you saying the 15w does not have LL01 but the 5w does? I just keep getting more confused by the post here. :( Trying to read this right now but its way above my head...

    1996 BMW 740il M62B44 Mobil1 0w40 Waited for timer to run out ~3yrs

TPN report came in. I think I will start a new thread on that as this one evolved into what intervals and Type I should be using and that report is what I should have posted to answer my initial question in the first place (thanks for letting me know that guys) which this thread has still not...

So they have M1 15w50, can I use that? Otherwise I'll have to wait on a delivery for 5w50

I wouldn't doubt it, I don't put a ton of miles on it. 5w-50, W0w, I should really run something that thick?

Hah, I'll never forget the days of juggling real mode drivers to have enough conventional available! :)

I'm not sure, I think it calculates on the fuel consumption but i'm not positive. Himem.sys, I spent many an hour back in the day setting up extended memory and upper memory area.

I got in touch with the lab and they still have my sample and are going to do the TBN!

Cool, I thought they just coated the cylinders like the nikasil.

Thanks for the explanation! Not that is is relevant here but I remember the original m60's had an issue with the nikasil coating and high sulfer gas turning into sulfurac acid and thats why they had to recall all those engines and goto the alusil cylinder coating.

Thank you! This makes sense as last winter when we had -9 degrees weather I had a radiator failure and ran about 10 miles overheating (3am in the morning) so that may explain it. Unfortunately I tossed the old filter but I'll examine this one when i do the next change.

Mobil1 0W40 is what I've been using on it since 2008, I still don't really understand the differance between the ll01 and llo4. So one of you guys is saying to use the ESP 5w30 which is llo4? And your saying use Mobil1 0W40 which is ll01. I'm getting more confused by the second here. :D

Bearings are that bad? Is it to the point I should consider replacing them? I have no clue what the ranges should be so thats why i'm here.

OK so I'll use Mobil 1™ ESP 5W-30 when I do the change. I'll worry about that at the end of the summer.

Well I don't think they would say to test again in another 4k miles if it was considered unusable. Anyway considering I only put about 250 miles a month on this car, I think I can go 6 months on this oil and do a test on the unused sample I have vs the 6 month on with ~1500 miles on it and that...
