I really wish we would get engines like these. The TDI is good and all right now, but the Geo Metro and old Honda Insight proved there is a market for these high-mileage marvels here.

I would look elsewhere if you care about fuel economy. My buddy only averages 21.8 mpg half highway/half city. It is a heavy car with a tiny, low-tech engine. Many new small cars are coming out that are looking to change the landscape: new Ford Focus, Chevy Cruze, Ford Fiesta, not to mention...

Get a free alignment check somewhere, and also have them take a look at the tie rod ends. My roommate just had to replace both tie rod ends to fix this exact problem.
