Having previously had a bypass filter on my old TDI, it only got changed once every 50-60K miles. I would say it's probably fine for even longer than that on gassers, since they don't produce soot the way diesels do. My vote would be change the oil and regular filter, worry about the bypass...

I've got the Timbren SES on my Ram, definitely a worthwhile upgrade for towing or hauling heavy. No more butt sag and the loads feel much better supported. With an empty bed and not towing, it's perfectly stock since they're not touching the axle.

My vote is MOPAR, you don't want to have to change it again prematurely even if free. Too much PITA.
