I just want to know why you guys need/want to 'flush' anything? You simply need to drain as much of the old coolant from the rad, coolant tank and block as possible and re-fill with new/fresh coolant and distilled water mix (50:50) every second year. Why bother introducing tap water at all?

I also agree that with synthetic (can't speak for dino), mileage is somewhat more important than actual time. For example, I do 10k mi. OCI's. Well that takes me more than 2 years on a car that I recently began storing. I won't be doing annual oil changes that cost $100 (8qt.+ $25 OE filter)on...

I never used rx, but have excellent lifter response from LC alone. So, that along with "looks just as bad as when I bought the car" quote after 2 rx tmts....you guys make the proper conclusion as to which product works/ed better.

Yes. Try LC. Worked for me.

They are? What engine products do they sell? I've owned 4 BMW's over 10 years and don't remember any specific engine products pushed to me. The dealer did sneak in some cheapo fuel system cleaner a couple times and they do have an increasing line-up of car care products, but I've not seen any...

Forget the "GM calls for 5-30" ____. My friends brand new `05 GM Blazer burned oil until he put in 5-40, so this is what he uses now. OTC available 5-40 or 5-50 with or without some LC will help reduce the oil burning.

Maybe he means: "phat"??? On a serious note, I also don't believe the 'needs a certain viscosity' to work right thing since (as was pointed out) visocity is temperature dependent there are huge fluctuations in viscosity with operating temperatures and seasons. On a side note....if air cooling...

Either they stopped using them in time or always recommended "premium" fuel as it seems like owners using premium fuel in their BMW's did not have any nikasil issues.

It may reduce fuel economy too. I personally don't like it. Just put the right amount and call it a day. Now, I can see if it says 4.7 and you use 5qts, that's fine. But to put in 5.7 or 6...uuugghh...why experiement with your engine?

It's like anything that gets old. Ever see the condition of a `93 Lexus or Acura? The ones I've seen are beat up and most parts falling off, faded or severely worn.... So yes, if the car has seen DC winters and seen poor maintenance....and even then, the age of the car alone and you will need...
