I have been using Motorcraft filters for years and never had one problem... Fortunately, both my V10 Superduty and Town car use the same FL820s, so I stock up at Wally World for $3.88.... I use the Motorcraft 5w20 oil too....I guess I am a real Ford Guy....had not thought about that until now!!

I have sure noticed a lot of ads on Speed channel, SPIKE TV, etc. for Castrol oils...they talk about how Castrol will increase horsepower and efficency.... If isn't a full synthetic, it is staill THAT GOOD????

In searching the internet, I found a TSB directly from FORD, dated 2004.... It specifically identifies the pre-1996 Lincoln town Car, Mercury Grand Marquis and Ford Crown Vic as using MERCON V with the AOD-E.... So, now I have the real answer...thanks

I am confused...I want to change the transmission fluid and filter and drain the torque converter (drain plug is there!)in my 94 Town car. I did a search on MERCON and got all kinds of conflicting reports. The owner's manual says to use MERCON, but several folks recommend MERCON V....now I see...

For the actual cost difference, I don't think I would use Wally oil in a lawn mower....but, I won't go to the other extreme and use the expensive synthetic either....Mobil 15w40 is good and what I use...$6.36 a gallon at Walmart
