First 5K Today -- Runners, what are your times?

I was a really serious runner from 2000-2006. Ended up quitting cold turkey fall 2006 while training for an ultramrathon for multiple reasons. I wasn't particularly fast, (my best 5k was 20:45) and I gravitated toward longer andlonger distances. Did run a 1:41:45 half marathon and a 3:40...

No "cloud" for me. I'm not giving a company access to my personal files. Google is already intrusive enough as it is.

    Help My Brother's A/C

My brother has a 2002 Dodge Stratus R/T coupe. The a/c compressor was replaced last summer. Now, when he turns on the A/C, the LED on the switch flashes and the compressor doesn't engage. He took it to a shop and they couldn't diagnose it. So, I did a bit of Googleing on the subject and it seems...

Coolest Car your Dad had when you were a kid

My dad had a tired '66 Pontiac Tempest coupe with about 110k miles on it(this was 1976, I was 13), and the tranny failed. It sat in the garage for about 3 months, then one of my dads co-workers totalled out a Bonneville. My dad bought it, and he and I pulled the 400 and turbo tranny out of the...

Chevy Cruze eco 6sp manual vs. VW Golf TDI auto

If your looking as it strictly from an economic standpoint, yes the Chevy will be cheaper. But the golf has a more driver oriented chassis, and combined with the 236 ft/lbs of torque from the diesel, will be much more fun to drive. I have just over 10k trouble-free miles in my TDi, and have...

    Pennzoil Platinum Vs Castrol Edge

I've run both in my Frontier(bought the cheaper one at the time). The one difference I've noticed is that the Castrol is thinner (my gauge shows slightly less oil pressure). 6k miles should be no problem for either oil.

    Post your current MPG

I've had my 2011 Golf TDI for 2 months and just over 3300 miles. Last tank in the TDI: 501 miles on 12.8 gals=39.1 mpg(about 70% hwy). A couple previous tanks: 587 miles on 14.0 gallons=41.9 mpg 583 miles on 14.1 gallons=41.3mpg Both those tanks were about 90% hwy driving at 67-72 mph.

Looks like its been lowered slightly, too. I wonder what the coefficient of drag is on that thing. Betcha it sounds cool at speed.
