New bike. 10w40. / chain lube

Any 10w40 Motorcycle oil will work great in the Yamaha CP2 engine. The Valvoline is a great choice. I would run the OEM filters and for chain lube I’ve always found Dupont Chain saver from Walmart to be as good as any and it’s cheap. I got 21k mile out of my KTM 790 chain using it and it still...

She’s home guys. Thanks for the feedback on my earlier post . XSR700.

Sweet bike. I had a first Gen XSR900 that I regret selling. I may buy another one in the future. The CP2 is a great engine. It’s spicy, but also reliable. It should serve you very well.

What would happen if I just ran 10w30 in my 2019 camry hybrid?

My 23 Camry has 76k on it with mostly Bulk Valvoline 0w16 from the local tire discounters using my fleet account, or Castrol Edge 0w20 the few times I’ve changed it myself. It’s had 5-6k OCIs and uses no oil between changes. Looking under the valve cover the engine is spotless and cam lobes look...

Kawasaki Z650RS for 1-2 hour trips?

Looks like a nice bike. The Yamaha XSR700 is a great option as well. Cant go wrong with either. Reliability on a modern motorcycle is really not a huge concern even for the European brands. They are generally with good maintenance as reliable as automobiles. They require more maintenance, but...

    Oil Weight Question

Yes, Nothing wrong with running the 10w50. Yes it will naturally shear more than the 10w30, but in a shared sump the 10w30 is going to shear as well. The 10w-30 will be a 20wt after a couple thousand miles and the 10-50 will probably be a 30wt after a couple thousand miles. I would run a 10w40...

Amsoil Updated PDS sheets for Metric Line - new product as well.

I’m not sure, the link reverts back to the old PDS now. I guess they decided the uploaded it too soon? Regardless, I’m waiting to order any until the update. I don’t want a mixed lot of old and new

    Valvoline Restore and Protect Euro

I think most of us that have Higher mileage Euro cars trust Valvoline enough to run it regardless of an actual approval. Valvoline doesn’t really make any bad products.

Oil recommendations for new 460/7.5L Ford

I would probably look at Redline 5w40 or 10w40. If your builder is recommending 20w50 and you’re in a HOT climate like lower AZ Valvoline VR1 or Mobil 1 15w50 will be good economical options.

200K Transition Mobil 1 To Amsoil

I’m not sure you’ll see any benefit going from EP to Amsoil. Especially going 5K on EP to 10K on Amsoil. The Amsoil is a good product, but it’s not magic, and it won’t do anything drasticly different than M1. Sure, it has more additives (TBN), but depending on the EP grade the base oil is...
