13k miles later, the cams look good. Most KTMs are actually a very good bargain compared to the competitors bikes. The 790 ADV is spec’d like a 14-15k bike for 10,900 USD which is a bargain IMO. The 1290 Super Adventure has everything a BMW GS has for $5-6k less. I don’t think they are...
I have a shark Spartan GT Carbon. It’s a fantastic helmet. They are only labeled DOT in the USA, but they are the same multi density eps and shell as the European versions which are ECE 22.06
Shark is a safety focused brand, it’s certainly going to be very safe.
You’re probably right.
I’m confident mine will last another 12k. If they need replacement then I will replace them and go ahead and install the 3.5bar oil spring I have.
I have my eye on either a new Multistrada V2 or Moto Guzzi Stelvio so the KTM may become a second bike in the next year or...
It’s a great bike to ride! At least it’s an affordable bike to begin with.
There was a lot of oil on top of the cam bridge, so it’s getting oil up there, I may check oil pressure while it’s running soon.
If it’s lowish I do have a 3.5 bar spring for the oil pump if it’s needed. Supposedly...
Yea,
I’m hoping to get 30k miles out of them🤞
I do really like the bike, and it’s pretty easy to work on all things considered. I’m at a point where I either trade it in on a 1290 super adventure or I keep it and continue to rack up miles. There are guys on early 790s with 80+K miles but on...
I have put 12,795 miles on my 24’ KTM 790 Adventure in the last 12 months. I wanted to take a peek at the valve clearances and the cams since they are a hot topic in the Motorcycle world.
All the valve clearances were still in spec. The cams have some “running” marks on the lobes. They however...
The EA888 Gen3 and Gen4 engines have a ton of usable power.
Our 24’ VW Atlas has the Gen4 EA888 rated at 269HP and I never feel like the vehicle is lacking In power even as a 3 Row family hauler. It feels especially strong on the Highway at higher speeds (85-100mph).

I picked this oil up on sale and it’s the current fill in the KTM790 ADV as a winter oil. I likely won’t run it more than 1k miles due to starting as a thin 50wt already and this bike being a shared sump engine.
Add pack seems basic on paper, although Blackstone...
