Manufacturers fill with whatever oil is spec’d by the them and the oil company they partner with.
Current OEM oil for VW is Mobil in the proper VW spec for the vehicle being filled.
We had a 1.6T Tucson Limited. Terrible fuel dilution. Needed the valves replaced at 103k miles. Surprisingly the DCT gave us no issues until 140k when it started slipping a little. Engine drank oil after about 110k miles. It liked a qt every 1k miles.
Excellent driving and handling cars...
I finally got around to changing out the FF @ 1389 miles.
Oil was dirtier than I expected it to be, but certainly not terrible. Very very little metallic in the bottom of the drain pan. There were a few small flakes of some blue Material in the filter pleats, as well as some debris. The...
For reliability yet usefulness I’d say a Chevy or GMC Express Van would be a winner. Bulitproof LS engine. Plenty of transmissions Available for replacement or repair. They are generally Fleet vehicles so one with 100k miles has likely had excellent service.
Would be boring as all get out, but...
Maybe…
My Wife is a tightwad, but she buys new cars and drives them for 250k-300k miles when possible. She bought a Camry for this very reason a year and a half ago. It’s often cheaper in the long run to buy a quality vehicle and maintain it well
Any 5.4 3V that hasn’t had phasers, chains, guides, and oil pump updated by 138k miles is way past due.
This is one of the worst engines Ford ever built IMO. I’ve helped do about 5 of these at a family member’s mechanic shop and I don’t even turn wrenches for a living.
This particular shop has...
1. Camry, Good size, MPG, reliability, good resale
2. Civic, reliability, good resale, good MPG
3. Jetta S, Good driving dynamics, Manual Trans available, more fun than the two above.
I’m surprised to see this thread still alive.
To give an update I purchased 6QT M1 0w20 ESP X2 at my local WM believe it or not. The local Advance Auto had Mann Filters and I ordered REIN Drain plugs online. The plugs just arrived today. I’ll likely do a Change this weekend. I believe my wife...
I too purchased a dipstick as well. The hole is already there, doesn’t make sense they just capped it off. I’m glad there was an aftermarket option.
I’m at 670 miles and the oil is still on full. No measurable usage to speak of so far.
I’ll probably plan to make a trip to the dealer or make an online order for materials and get it changed somewhere between 1,000-1,500 miles or so.
How many miles are on yours so far?
Thanks for the information. I’ll have to make a trip to the dealer to get supplies I would say. I’m assuming if I order online I could use the oil change kits for the 22+ GTI As FCP and ECS don’t have model data for the 2024 Atlas yet. I would assume both being a Gen4 EA888 the filter and the...
Our new Atlas currently has about 600 miles on the Factory Fill.
Im planning on 5k OCI’s with VW/Audi dealer 508/509 0w20. I was thinking of doing the first one at 5K as well.
Any benefit to doing an early dump at 1500-2k and then again at 5k, and continuing on 5K after that? What do most of...
We noticed the same with our previous T-GDI Hyundai. It hated Casey’s fuel. Ran like a dog and got terrible mileage compared to the BP or Speedway fuels
