Valvoline Maxlife Syn ATF 38.5k 2012 Lacrosse 6T70

Valvoline Max Life ATF is stinky fresh from the jug. Its a fine fluid in my opinion. Got many thousands of miles on a few of my vehicles with it in the transmission.

    Blackstone tests some engine flushes

I have a car that’s nearly always had good full synthetic in it for nearly 200k and it developed a tick ( probably lifter) I decided to just do a quick 5 min flush and see if it helped. used minute clinic from Walmart and it did stop the tick. Hasn’t done it for a month now and before that it...

    2016 Camaro SS 6.2L LT1 Mobil1 0w-40 ESP, 7937 mi

I don’t think I agree that l.3 fuel alone is enough to thin the oil out of grade. I wonder if it just sheared down some. Either way it dosent appear to be a problem.

    2007 Toyota Yaris - Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 5w30 - 10,123 KM

I would not be concerned that your rings are “on the way out” you mentioned it is not using any oil which would more of a tale tale sign if it was because that engine isn’t known to use oil. I think you can chalk the little bit of fuel up to cold starts and not worry about it as it’s minimal...

Any harm in having a shop flush trans fluid in 62te

Sounds like you might have a well maintained vehicle there. That’s one of the most important things when buying a used vehicle is having an idea if it was properly taken care of. I bought my 2019 from Avis with 35k. Boiughr it for ridiculously cheap as it was right at the height of the initial...

Any harm in having a shop flush trans fluid in 62te

I would and do agree if a vehicle at least has a drain plug in the AT pan. You can drain out most of the break in crud that’s stuck in the pan out that way. The smaller stuff that passes the screen can be flushed out through cooler line or what have ya. Our 2019 grand caravan doesn’t have a darn...

Does filter catch most damaging metal flakes?

I think it would be better to use a flush because any metal potentially stuck in sludge or soft deposits could be carried out. Also because the oil would be thinned down it seems logical that it could wash the metal & crud out better. That’s just me thinking what I might would do in your...

    4X drain & fill

I bet you could just do a drain and fill every 30k from now on and be good. 4 drain and fills is almost equal to a flush.

Chunk of metal in oil filter (2004 Cavalier)

It was right there with the filter the whole time and never could have passed through. Either a part of that filter or from a previous filter and was somehow sticking to the plastic center tube or something and somehow wasn’t noticed by whoever was changing the filter before.

Does filter catch most damaging metal flakes?

I think this is an Instance where a motor flush product is a good idea. Maybe 10 or 20 minutes idiling in park and then dumped and filled with a fresh oil/filter change then a very short interval and changed again with normal oil choice and an efficient filter and then just go on.

Is there any practical benefit to letting a passenger car oil warm up before driving?

I’ll leave it sit running 5 or 10 minutes when it’s a little cold out. I always hear about fuel dilution being a potential problem with that but it hasn’t seemed to kill my vehicles yet. I do always use a thicker oil than called for as all my vehicles spec 20or 30 grade oils and I just have...
