LSJr tests and discusses DexosD babymax oils

Well, that may be true but this site has been referencing these same UOA's for decades and this is the first I have seen their valdity challenged with this level of disdain. Also, I am unclear on what would satisfy conclusive DATA in your scenario. I personally think it would be highly...

LSJr tests and discusses DexosD babymax oils

Nailed it. Ever heard the phrase "paralysis by analysis"?? Is it it possible that the conclusion Lake is presenting is not "scientifically" correct? That is likely based on what several are mentioning here but it is also extremely likely that these engines will 100% of the time show decreased...

LSJr tests and discusses DexosD babymax oils

I am really curious now. I have been reading this forum off and on for close to 20 years and have great respect for the contributors including yourself. What would really be exciting is if experts on this forum collaborated with Lake in the sharing of ideas. I get (or assume) that several...

That is odd, Lake uses his real professional identity and provides reasoned data to the universe. Even the most respected contributors on this forum are hidden behind their user names.🤔🤷🏻‍♂️

These 3.0 Duramax engines run ~230-240°F at operating temps.

Power Service Has a new fuel system cleaner for Diesels

Determining the Proper Oil for Your Engine - Email from Lake Speed Jr

I agree. Also, it occurs to me that this community could be an incredible contribution to the work that Lake is doing. He repeatedly mentions in his videos that his purpose is to share knowledge (not just his) and use science not speculation to inform decisions. There is a scientific brain...

    Caterpillar Oil at Blain's

I love CAT equipment but it seems corporately they are bent on watering down their brand until there is nothing left.

    2023 3.0 Duramax - Mobil 1 Delvac ESP 5w-40 4.3k mi

Based on the information I have seen related to HBNR belts, the Delvac should be no issue.

    2023 3.0 Duramax - Mobil 1 Delvac ESP 5w-40 4.3k mi

That is great info. LSJ indicated the same. I am still burning around 1qt every 5k miles so I take that into consideration. I really expected oil consumption to stop with the Delvac.

    2023 3.0 Duramax - Mobil 1 Delvac ESP 5w-40 4.3k mi

Another thing I am trying to keep an eye on is DPF regeneration. If anyone has feedback on the POTENTIAL .2% sulfated ash difference between Euro and CK-4 MAXIMUM allowed limits I am curious how significant that is perceived. I can't discern any difference monitoring through OBD Fusion but...

    2023 3.0 Duramax - Mobil 1 Delvac ESP 5w-40 4.3k mi

I don't think that is an ignorant question at all. I am not an expert but the feedback I have received indicates that a CK-4 HDEO has a stronger add pack better suited for handling the soot load than the European spec alternatives (0w-20 dexosD included). Also, we know that soot and...

    2023 3.0 Duramax - Mobil 1 Delvac ESP 5w-40 4.3k mi

I agree. The soot in the oil with the 3.0 Duramax is unbelievable.

    2023 3.0 Duramax - Mobil 1 Delvac ESP 5w-40 4.3k mi

Thanks for sharing! Very nice and interesting to see 3.5k OCI's as well. I spoke with LSJ as well before switching to Mobil Delvac ESP 5w-40. At the time he didn't have any samples on this CK-4 oil but was convinced that the HDEO would provide better results than even 0w-40 Mobil 1 ESP. I am...
