    81k mi 2008 Acura TL - Castrol Edge Synthetic 5W20- ~5k mi

I had read that as well, I swapped the #5 with #4 or #6, and the sound still seemed to come from #5 with the stethoscope. It does sound like the sound is tied to rpms and it sounds to me like it is 1 tick/knock per rev so it would make sense if it was something like an injector or valve...

Hi all, i was encouraged to get a UOA based on this thread. here are the results. The last part of the test looks different than other UOA's that I've seen, anyone care to explain what ST, OXI, NIT, SUL, W, A are?. To my uneducated eye it looks like everything is decent, please let me know your...

    extending OCI through winter?

Sure, the basic test is $25+tax, dropped off at the parts department. TAN and TBN were extra's, I think they were $20 each. I dropped my sample off on Wednesday morning and had the results emailed to me Friday afternoon. I was told all the testing is done at their Edmonton facility.

    extending OCI through winter?

I have never notice a gasoline smell during oil changes, but I have never smelled specifically for it. Will definately do it next change. As for water and fuel evaporating from the oil, especially on cold the -20 to -30 days the car is just getting up to temp when I get to work, so I feel like...

    extending OCI through winter?

I checked the owner's manual, says nothing about OCI's apart from using api approved 5w20, and following the OLM. I expect the OLM would take into account the winter operating conditions the car sees, but I would feel better with that verified with a UOA.

    extending OCI through winter?

Thanks guys, I figured the UOA suggestion was coming. I was hoping there was a more settled debate about short tripping in a fairly cool climate, and how it affects recommended OCI's, seems some of you don't feel it is an issue. Since I feel confidant that my oil can go farther that the 4500mi...

    extending OCI through winter?

Hi fellas, I don't see an "introductions" subforum here, so I will let this be my introduction. I have poked my head in on this forum a handful of times over the last few years but nothing really consistently. recently i have done a bit more reading on here and found some info that makes me...
