This is a manual transmission, with a dry brakes, at first they called for 90wt, and J20D or type F for wet brakes. Then they called for, John Deere low-viscosity Hy-Gard lubricant (J20D) or Type F Automatic Transmission fluid in both. There could have been a problem with 90wt being to heavy...

First post. I have a 1990 JD 240 garden tractor with 6 speed trans, it calls for, John Deere low-viscosity Hy-Gard lubricant (J20D) or Type F Automatic Transmission fluid. The transmission has a lot of play, it might be the drive chain. What would be a good oil that is heavier, but less then 90...
