Am not sure about the chemical form of moly, but the oil chemists have found a way to keep it suspended in oil.. Royal Purple has it in it, as I do beleive Schaeffers might also. For moly from the source, you might try www.guarddogmoly.com, out of Houston. I do not know whether it would help...
RP V. Schaeffer?
whom carries moly in the oil, and is that an issue at all?
Schaeffer gets really good press here on the board. Granted I have RP in my Volve D24, but we are operating at -35 F. right now, and as I resolve problems I have with my D24(its new to me), none of them seems traceable...
I agree about frequent oil changes. Any excuse to get dirt out of the engine !! Funny what you see when your under there.
Now I have a question. I am running Purple in my D24 Volvo Diesel here in Fairbanks, Alaska.
Putting in a new valve cover gasket fixed most of my oil loss. Now I am loosing a...

Nick
The concept of a coolant filter makes sense to me from a couple points: 1/ Internal engine contaminats, which will do damage internally, especially to the water pump etc; 2/ Bad water or mineral laden stuff that is occasionally introduced unknowingly or for other reason. The internal...
Well satisfied as I am with my Royal Purple 14-40W, I am looking for a bit of syn to add that has a good seal conditioner in it, for btwn changes, anyone got a candidate?
TIA, Nick
Having observed the long life of properly oiled 2 cycles, and the severe dry start problems in arctic temps, I have been adding about 1 oz of basic motor oil to my gas rigs. Now that I have a D24 diesel in the Volvo, I am adding that much or more, say Via Lucas Oil. Also an aquiantance working...
now I will have to go out and check out the diesel engine in the Sprinter.
From the winter climate here in Fairbanks Alaska, admittedly extreme, I find three items necessary to assure a start here in the winter whether, esp -30 F,; 1/ Block or freeze plug heater, probably 2 in that size unit...
