    GC 0w-30 M04023 '01 Buick 3.1L LG8 7,618 miles

This is the forth fill of green GC in this engine. The date codes on the bottles were all M04023 for that fill. The engine had 63,129 miles at this oil change. I ran the oil from 10-20-06 to 3-25-07 with zero make up oil added. My daily commute is 20 miles each way, 70% highway. There was one...

    Syn or conv.

I really like the Shell Rotella T synthetic 5w-40 (blue bottle) in all my B&S air cooled engines. For the price it offers excellent hot run protection along with easier cold starts than either a 10w-30 or straight 30 weight oil. Since it’s a Group III it’s not a “true synthetic”, but it will...

New Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel Truck 5W-40 Meets API SL!

About the best oil out there for 4-stroke motorcycles without cats is the Amsoil 10w-40 (MCF) or 20w-50 (MCV).

Where is Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel Truck oil?

I spotted the new Mobil 1 5w-40 TDT at Murray's last week for $5.79 quart. BTW, per the Mobil 1 website TDT and Delvac 1 are in fact the same oil.

    M1 15w50,now discontinued, replaced only with m1 EP 15w50

Personally I don't like the changes to the additive package in any of the SM rated oils. My days of “fortifying” the SL rated Mobil 1 0w-40 with SL rated Mobil 1 15w-50 are numbered. I will most likely switch that vehicle over to my stash of Mobil 1 5w-40 T&SUV, the new Mobil 1 TDT or Delvac 1...

New Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel Truck 5W-40 Meets API SL!

Just got back from a late lunch where I checked out the local Murray's and Wal-Mart stores. Yes, Murray's locally also now stocks the Mobil 1 TDT 5w-40 in quarts for $5.79. They also have the Shell Rotella T Syntechic in gallons for $16.99. The local larger size Wal-Mart does not yet have the...

    X-40 with no VIIs? Redline?

Although the Amsoil’s SL rated 10w-40 Motorcyle oil (MCF) is an excellent choice, the additive package (IIRC, heavy zinc and phosphorous) is NOT very catalytic converter friendly. So if the vehicle has cat-cons, stay away from the Amsoil 10w-40 M/C oil.

    Lots of GC M0604xxxxxxxxx

Correct on the 505.01 specifiaction. Yes IIRC, it did list the VW 503.0, 505.0 and 503.1 approvals. Sorry I didn't have my camera with me and since I still have about 75 qrt of the M04 green, I didn't pick up any of the M0604 vintage gold.

    Shell Rotella T Synth 5W-40 [M1 T&SUV only in 5W30 now?]

The only local store I can still find SRT 5w-40 synthetic is at the larger Wal-Mart. They still stock 1 qrt ($3.89) as well as 1 gal ($14.58) bottles. I picked up a couple quarts to use in the 6.5 HP air cooled engine this season.

    Lots of GC M0604xxxxxxxxx

The bottles of M0604 that I looked at yesterday at the local AZ had new front and back labels. The front label proudly proclaims Euro Formula. The back label stated "Made in Germany" and included MBZ approvals 229.1, 229.3 and 229.5 The VW approvals did not list 505.01 Sorry if this is old news...

Mobil 1 T&SUV (Delvac 1) *CANT FIND! AAAAHH!*

Well I did also notice last evening when checking out the inventory at the larger Wal-Mart in my area, that they also carry 1 gallon jugs of Shell Rotella synthetic 5w-40 for $14.58.

Mobil 1 T&SUV (Delvac 1) *CANT FIND! AAAAHH!*

In the last week or so I found a couple left over 1 qrt bottles of the M1 T&S 5w-40 at my local "Great Wall of China Mart" for the old price of $4.50 each. I picked them up to go with my stash of 5 qrt bottles that a bought last year for $19.95.

GM 3.1L OLM and green GC

The wife's OLM light went on in her '00 3.4L Grand AM after only 5.7K miles with green GC in the crank case. First time with green GC in that engine. Before I was running a "witch's brew" of 0w-30 and 15w-50 Mobil (no I hadn't simply tried the 0w-40 Mobil 1). The intake gasket problem has...

List of vehicles/engines GC has been used in.

Green GC with larger PF52 sized M1 filters; '00 Pontiac Grand Am 3.4L, 56K miles, noticeably quieter at startup with smoother idle, no drop in mileage, consumption reduced but not eliminated vs. Xw-30 M1 SM rated, no UOA data, intake gasket fixed '01 Buick Century 3.1L, 43K miles, noticeably...
