Would running a thicker oil benefit a car with an Intake?

sdude, I buy it right from the Torco website, and it's definitely not the cheapest oil on the planet! I buy 12 liters at a time (3 oci's), that way I save on shipping costs, because it's not much more to ship 12 liters than it is to ship 4 liters. My on-board computer has me 1.4mpg's better...

Would running a thicker oil benefit a car with an Intake?

sdude: I have a 2006 Mazda3 5-Door. I run Torco SR1 5w-20 and that's what I'd run if I were you. The SR1 5w-20 has an HTHS of 2.9, and a 7.31 viscosity @100*C. That HTHS of 2.9 is as high as some 5w-30 oils, both synthetic and dino! I'm going to install the Mazdaspeed intake and cat-back...

Mazda 2.3L.............The best filter design ever, PERIOD!!

Filter guy, I would say your statement is true on ANY and ALL work done on a vehicle. OEM parts or after market. Darryl

Mazda 2.3L.............The best filter design ever, PERIOD!!

unDummy, I have some advice: 1) Don't over tighten the cap and it won't fail. 2) Don't drop the cap and it won't crack. 3) Mazda OEM filter/o-rings are $6.11. 5) And it sounds like you're better off taking your car in for an oil change rather than doing it yourself, because you make it sound...

Mazda 2.3L.............The best filter design ever, PERIOD!!

Hey guys, I bought a 2006 Mazda3 hatchback. The 2.3L motor has a cartridge style oil filter on it. When I bought the car I had no idea that it used a cartridge filter, and after I found this out I was a little worried about changing it because it was "different" and I had no experience at all...

    Torco SR-1 5w-20

The engine "sounds and feels" about the same as before. My butt-dyno isn't very accurate, so I didn't include any HP/torque "findings". But I do have an on-board computer, and it has me getting the best MPG's that I've ever achieved with the SR-1 5w-20. I've only had the SR-1 in for 1 1/2...

    Torco SR-1 5w-20

I bought an '06 Mazda 3s 5-Door GT (LOADED!!) with the 2.3L motor. It's spec'd for 5w-20, and that's what I'm going to use.....No Exceptions!! Anyway, I bought 8 liters of Torco SR-1 5w-20 from the Torco website. That's pretty cool, just click and like magic the oil is at your door in 2 days...

K&N, you can keep them. They fit like dung.

Jonny you're right! I had my 1 month old 2006 Mazda 3 on my brain, it's a 2.3l. The '03 Accord does have the 2.4l......That folks is why you can't believe everything you read on the web, sometimes people are just flat out wrong. Darryl

K&N, you can keep them. They fit like dung.

I have 2 K&N drop-in's that fit perfectly. I use them on a 2003 Honda Accord 2.3L and a 2006 Mazda 3S 5 Door. I have used K&N air filters (cone style and drop-in style) on all my vehicles since I first got my license back in 1983. I have had no air filter related problems of any kind on any of...

    Castrol Full Syn

Winston, I believe that the EOP oil is group III+. At least that's what the Chevron web site says under "Base Oils". Darryl

    Castrol Full Syn

And don't forget, Mobil 1 has a reputation for making engines "louder" and producing high iron content in UOA's...........But hey, you get what you pay for. Darryl

    10W30 Chevron Supreme SM..Group III ?

Ray, if you go to Chevron's web site and follow the links to "base oils" you'll see that Chevron 5w-30 is infact group II+. I don't have a link, but it's there! Something about 5w-30 using "Chevron 5R" base oil which they say is group II+. Darryl...
