Purolator One PL11403 used oil filter cut open

This one looks OK. Much better than the last 8 M+H USA-made filters I've cut open, but there's still some excess glue on the end caps that could come off during use.

Whats next filter up to replace Fram ultra's...

Similar story here, all the common sizes of Fram are gone from my nearest half dozen Walmarts. Some have the equivalent Mobil 1, some are out of those too. The filter situation at Walmart will get worse before it gets better. Every single time I walk down that aisle there are people staring at...

Whats next filter up to replace Fram ultra's...

Will the MicroGard Select MSL57055 work in your application? It's a taller filter with the same threads and gasket diameter, I run them on my Legacy sometimes. As was mentioned, the Mobil 1 would be a good option too, if the ones for your application are made in South Korea. I would stay away...

    Carquest and MicroGuard oil filters

WCW has done C&Ps of the PPE and verified that the media has more surface area, however the media did appear to be thinner and less efficient than MicroGard Select.

    Moly and Graphite

Graphite-fortified greases are typically meant for extremely high temperature industrial applications. It isn’t really necessary in automotive applications.

How big is your stash, hoarders?

I've lost count. More than 100 qts and more than 75 oil filters. A lot of that is from clearance, though. I maintain 5 vehicles, one is an older Subaru EJ that burns a quart per 1200 miles.

Who will replace Fram filters at Walmart?

Most likely Walmart will outsource Supertech to VAFI/CAFI and replace Fram with Purolator. Eventually, someone is going to purchase the rights to the Fram name...

Grease for Open/Unsealed Bearings - Recommendations?

Bel-Ray Aluminum complex (#2) should work well. Polyurea grease would probably be good too. Water resistance is way more important than EP ability in your application!

    Lithium grease water resistance?

Calcium based grease will be fine in bike bearings. Not sure what's out there in NLGI#1, but you could look for a 'low temperature' or 'arctic grease'. Sometimes in extremely cold climates an NLGI 1 will be substituted for an NLGI 2. I think there are specialty 'NLGI 1.5' greases for bike...

    Mobil 1 ESP 0w30 in a 4.3 Vortec

I think CAS# 68411-46-1 is an antioxidant. The ester may not be listed on the SDS. Depends on whether the ester is considered a hazardous ingredient by OSHA according to XOM's SDS authoring software.

Best Fuel (gasoline) additive for boat?

I've had great luck with the blue Sta-Bil (Sta-Bil Marine). I treat 91 octane E0 premium fuel at about 1 oz/5 gal blue Sta-Bil and 1 oz/5 gal TC-W3 (usually Pennzoil XLF). Fuel treated this way will last at least 2 years, usually longer.

Discount Tire 5 stars from me

I've had good luck at Discount Tire in my area. They have brand new Hunter Road Force balancers (4-5 of them), they torque lugs properly to spec with a torque wrench, and the prices are reasonable and predictable. All DTs are corporate owned (no franchises), so in theory they all follow the same...
